Hello. The metal ones are more durable, but the plastic seems to work a little better with the snow discharge. Thank you for your question.

Answer:
Hello. The highest intake height for our machines is 23", but can handle up to 30" of snow. I would recommend a 3-stage for such heights. Thank you for your question.

Rated 3.6 out of 5 by 8 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful This is the best snowblower I ever had. It gives me great pleasure and I hope it snows more. I can't wait to try my new toy. October 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A beast I have used the machine more than 25 times without a clog or broken shear pin. I have cleared up to 18" of snow on a 600' driveway. Starting is simple with either method. Variable speeds are very useful. One fellow complained of burned belts. The owner's manual makes it clear that speed should be changed only when the drive system is out of gear and the machine not moving. Perhaps that was not noted. January 3, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by In my case bigger was better Just got it in December 2013 and have used it 4 times so far. This machine is a beast. Moves snow with ease, even the piles that the plow truck bury you in at the end of the drive way. I have power to spare, easy starting even at -15 ( one pull ). Haven't needed to use electric start yet. One small thing that could be made better, the skids sometimes make it hard to turn the machine, even with the steering assist triggers (You are trying to slide the skids sideways and the wheels turn but don't want to turn the blower) . It need a way to have the skids to pivot. January 9, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by snow blower the snow blower is to heavey the shut is to hard to turn and it fell off plasket clips broke shut fell off. and there no light turn off and when its cold the reverse dons;t work good.skid shoe don'''t let you turn December 17, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by This machine is a beast. I purchased this machine in December and as I live in Western NY I have had plenty of time to use it. Blows snow without any problem. I have yet to have it plug up like others I have used. Had a little problem with the shoe adjustment as the rear bolt was put in crooked at the factory. Since my dealer has come out and repaired the problem. I also had a traction problem even with the dual wheels but I turned the wheels around so the lugs bite better and this solved 75% of that problem. My only main complaint is the headlight placement. It is positioned so low on the console and in the center of it that it shines directly on the discharge shoot and makes it hard to see in front of where you are going when operating in the dark. Would have been better to either put dual headlights on either side of console or the single one up higher. January 24, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great machine for the Northwest The machine handled as promised and cut through all the drifts and what-ever the snow plow left in our driveway. Handles dry snow accumulations without effort. Wet snow is a real challenge to the engine and auger but it handled it without problems. Great piece of machinery. January 21, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by this than useing it i hope home dep take it back this machine burns belts every time we use it we spend more time repairing it than useing it i hope home Dep take it back March 19, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bigger snow thrower that starts to really move whats needed June 2, 2011
