CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by no balls Every time engine gets a load on it stalls...and that's at high throttle. Spending more time pulling to start than weed whacking. May 5, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Go cub cadet I own my own yard maintenance company, Awesome trimmer easy to start easy to handle lot of power , bought and sold three different brands of trimmers before buying the cub , the best choice I ever made now All my yard equipment are cubs March 18, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by un believable power. just bought last night and used sat. morning. first straight shaft trimmer i have ever owned. a little hard on your back, but otherwise easy starting, great power. gas tank could be a little bigger. but no more mixing gas and oil !!!!!!!! would recommend. i have about 2 acres. cuts right threw the big stuff with ease. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by High Quality & Powerful Unit This unit is excellent to use as a trimmer, edger, blower, pruning saw, hedge trimmer, or essentially any another attachment you can find. Starting is easy as long as you follow the instructions listed on the side of the unit. The power of 4 cycle engine is impressive and it is not obnoxiously noisy by any means. I now prefer the straight shaft trimmer versus the curved shaft style I was previously using. The power head itself should last for many years as long as it is properly taken care of. Definitely recommend! May 24, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by There are better options for your $ Unfortunately I didn't own this long enough to form an opinion of its features or to try out any of the optional attachments. And I'll tell you why. It arrived on time in the mail. I came home from work, assembled it, filled it with the essential fluids, then fired it up for a test run. I'm kind of a kid still in that respect: when I get a new toy, the rest of the world screams to a stop for a while. My initial impression was that it was heavier than it need be and it was not balanced well. I maintain that impression. When I purchase something new, It is my intention to master it right away so that during use I don't have to stop to look something up or have to struggle with something perpetually because I'm using it incorrectly. I Read the instructions thoroughly and followed the starting and warm up instructions to the letter. All the same, It took a while and some effort to start and a while longer than expected still to warm up (it was a hot day, at that). Right off I noticed it had a lot more vibration in the engine than anticipated. I took it around the yard really quick to hit some of the areas that had been bothering me and try it out. The handle is hard and uncomfortable. It is not well suited for turning the unit on its side to edge. I mentioned that the weight is not well balanced and this is again evident when trying to edge; you have to constantly fight the awkwardly positioned engine weight. The engine was not as powerful as expected either. Slower to get to speed than a two cycle. More torque I'm sure but, that's not a huge factor when weed eating around the yard. All of this was fine and well. I had, at that point, resolved to keep it. I had run it for a total of fifteen minutes (about ten to warm up and five to test it out and sully my work shoes and slacks with plant debris), I shut it off and laid if flat to store until yard work weekend (two weeks away). It never made it to yard work weekend. A week and a half roll by and I'm tooling around in my garage (I call it my laboratory). A shimmer caught my eye on the floor and upon closer inspection, It was all the oil that I had put into the weed eater. It has leaked out of a faulty seal in the oil level view window. The seal had not been properly seated and was bunched up, causing the leak. I decided to cut my losses and called the wonderful people at the home depot online store to arrange a return. I didn't have the box anymore, so I arranged to return it to a store for in store credit. I traded it out for the 21.2 cc Echo two cycle straight shaft line trimmer... The comparison is night and day. The echo costs only a few dollars more. It is plenty powerful, well balanced, light weight, starts and warms quickly, doesn't leak (50:1 gas to oil mixture... no oil reservoir), and is generally easy to use. The handle is very comfortable and ergonomic. It's very well suited to rolling to one side for sidewalk edging. This model doesn't have the mid shaft break for aftermarket attachments but, I can live with that. I'm very glad that the cub cadet model failed and afforded me the opportunity to exchange it for the Echo. Home depot was even nice enough to issue me a gift card for my trouble. All in all, I'm sure that had the oil window gasket been seated properly, It would have proven a reliable model but, simply put, you can do better for the money. Hands down. July 22, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Weed wacker ever Easy to wind string and it never kept breaking or getting so short it wouldn't come out as it operated preoperly till all string was used up. Love the 4 cycle as you don't mix oil and gas and instead basically just add gas and watch oil level. Great product I would recommend as a purchase. October 28, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by prefer my old one Leaks oil on garage floor. Not a comfortable hold. October 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good and bad this trimmer has good and bad parts. it is a hassle to start up but once it gets going its fine. when handling grass and weeds in meduim ammounts my homelite 19cc had more power and replacing the trimmer line takes 2 hands and a screwdriver to egt out and the head doesnt remove August 12, 2013
