Engine details

If this is the same as the Cub Cadet 760ES, why is the engine 344CC and not the 420 CC stated onthe Cub Cadet Website.
Asked by: Anonymous
I have the 344cc 10.5hp Briggs, its a bullet proof, strong and durable engine. It doesn't stall under any condition. My mower is 4 years old.

33 in. Wide Area Cut Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Mower-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cadet Does it Again This mower is the answer to anyone who longs for the manuicured lawn only provided by a lawn service. This mower allows for a nice wide (33") path to be cut without much effort. I have used a 22" mower for years and could never justify buying a wider mower fearing that I would have too much mower. Well, "ol trusty" finally bit the dust so I bought Cadet's 33" mower. I swear that I cut my lawn in about half the time and that includes pulling this machine out and returning in my garage. WARNING-this machine boogies. I have never taken it out of medium speed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Lawnmower I bought this lawnmower in May, but wanted to use it many times before I wrote a review. I live near Charlotte, NC and use this mower to mow my yard which is about .3 acres of actual grass. I chose this walk behind versus a riding mower for the maneuverability. I have a fence to contend with and several natural areas, trees, etc to avoid. I really like this mower. Pros: I have had no mechanical issue with this mower. I would recommend pressing the engage levers easily, as others have complained about belt issue. I have done this and had no problems. The mower has reduced my mow time from 1hr 40 min to about 50 min. while leaving a nice clean mow pattern. Half of my yard consists of an incline. I mow in a striped patterned running at a bias with the hill and have had no problems with handling the mower. Cons: In my eyes, the only drawbacks are superficial. I would prefer a pistol grip for the drive engage lever. As I frequently let go to turn 180 degrees. The gear shift lever doesn't clearly identify which gear you are in. However once you get the feel, this is more of a cosmetic issue. All in all I really like this mower!!! I would have given it 4.5 stars if the review process would allow it. I can't give it 5 because its not perfect, but close.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from with exception of receiving mower with a bad battery, big hassel yo get it replaced. Great mower for the price. received mower in April 2012 with a battery witch was bad. wouldn't charge and had a date of March 2011. Many phone calls and five Homedepot's later. (with these gas prices) wasn't to happy to say the least. HD sells the mower on line but dosn't stock the battery in most stores. I expected to be able to to mow my yard on Friday since the mower was delivered on Wednesday. Cub Cadet didn't want to here anything about it, said it was HD's problem. that was when i finally got to the right human. I was also planning to buy a 50" zero turn but I now have second thoughts. Otherwise the mower cuts great now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Mind the Zerks aka Grease Fittings Purchased this mower 4 years ago to cut 1/2 acre with no problems after 70+ uses. Note this mower has grease fittings on the blade spindles underneath the deck with no mention concerning them in the service manual. This may explain some thrown belts mentioned on other posts so grease before use. Mowing at #2 speed, 2nd highest setting gives best results when mulching 8-10" grass. Faster speed or taller grass adjust accordingly. On hill inclines try side to side cuts walking slightly downward of mower guiding uphill. Good mower for the price and task its required to perform.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from not what I thought I wish the last five reviews were on here a year ago when I bought mine. I have used it many times so I can tell you all the things to expect. POSITIVES It does a nice job when it works and for the average yard you will definately save time from a push mower. Like the fact the mulching option is standard, but more on that later Very easy to start and use for anyone. NEGATIVES Main problem... It goes through belts like diapers... belt flew off in the first five minutes, and then wore out 3 more times in ten hours of mowing,( I'm not a contractor, just my yard) not cheap to replace. Blades keep hitting... After talking to cub cadet they said it's because it uses a timing belt... make sure you don't hit anything !! I bought it to mow a hillside... Unfortunately, this is very difficult to run because only one wheel turns and you are constantly fighting it to keep it in line not to mention keeping it engaged. (larger wheels might help) The lever to adjust the blades bent almost completely off because it sticks out right past the base and caught a tree the first day I was mowing ( bent it back and just try to watch out ) After that I tried to mow around trees with the other side and it broke the guard right off. ( True story ) Don't bother using the mulcher unless you have a thin grass or really high cut...it will bog down the engine and mess up the timing plus burn out the belt that already seems to get weaker each time you engage and blades. The speeds are limited and difficult to change when mowing a hill... going up a hill at a 4 is great exercise, going down a hill at 4 is a good way to die. changing speeds on a hill seems simple if you are in a flat area so you don't have to disengage the blades too, but if you are going up and let go of the drive and leave the blades turning it will run over you even if you have it in gear 1. all in all decent mower, but with many flaws that don't make it ideal for anything other than a basic flat yard. One last note, I buy a lot from the Home Depot and they always try to help work out problems. Even with this, they replaced the first mower two hours after I bought it and have tried to help with getting it fixed everytime...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great buy for the money! My business partner and I started up a lawn service company last November. It was not until Fenruary until we picked up our first commercial account. We then purchased this mower. It works great on large properties, and it will get the job done. This partIcular mower runs on 3-4 commercial properties a week, and we have had no problems with it. Gret buy for the money!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from The Yellow Beast I was at my local Home Depot to by a Honda 22" Self Propelled walk behind mower. Upon reaching the store, the Cub Cadet was being wheeled outside becasue it was returned because the drive belt slipped off. I called a buddy who repairs lawn maintenance equipment to get his thoughts, which he recommended it for the price. He laughed at the 33" cut, but he laughed even harder when I told him I was originally going to purchase a 22" cut. We loaded the machine in the back of my Honda Pilot, I took it home and fired it right up. The only problem was that the drive belt had become loose when we were loading and unloading, which took 3 seconds to fix. I reduced my mowing time from (3) hours to (1.5) hours using it the first time. It takes a little getting used to as the machine took me for a ride a few times, but I found it easier to make 90 degree turns without engaging the transmission. My neighbors who mostly hire commercial lawn services were very impressed with how well it cut and named it the "Yellow Beast." I'll report back in a few months.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not a good product first of all the power of this product would have got a ten but the deck is built bad i already need a belt for this mower after 1 mowing of a lawn that takes 15 minutes to mow the service is bad because in order to get it fixed on its warranty i have to let them ship it off to Texas to get it fixed witch takes 3 to 4 weeks which i would go without any way to mow my lawn the store also dint carry the belt so i have to live with week blades so if you don't mind 10 horse power being wasted on slipping belts this is the product for you
