Answer:
Yes... you can put it in neutral, but the belt is where I had all my problems.... it has reverse, nuetral and three speeds ( not variable)... the belt broke off twice in less than a year... PS you can't mow with it in nuetral, the blades engage when you squeeze the handles ( pistol grip)

Answer:
Hello hotwire. The 33 in. Wide Area Cut Variable Speed Self-Propelled Gas Mower does have a neutral position. Place the lever in the neutral (N) position before starting the mower and when it is not in use. The mower can also be manually pushed by placing the lever in the neutral (N) position and pressing the drive control against the handlebar grip. Thank you for your question.

If this is the same as the Cub Cadet 760ES, why is the engine 344CC and not the 420 CC stated onthe Cub Cadet Website.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 21 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by with exception of receiving mower with a bad battery, big hassel yo get it replaced. Great mower for the price. received mower in April 2012 with a battery witch was bad. wouldn't charge and had a date of March 2011. Many phone calls and five Homedepot's later. (with these gas prices) wasn't to happy to say the least. HD sells the mower on line but dosn't stock the battery in most stores. I expected to be able to to mow my yard on Friday since the mower was delivered on Wednesday. Cub Cadet didn't want to here anything about it, said it was HD's problem. that was when i finally got to the right human. I was also planning to buy a 50" zero turn but I now have second thoughts. Otherwise the mower cuts great now. April 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mind the Zerks aka Grease Fittings Purchased this mower 4 years ago to cut 1/2 acre with no problems after 70+ uses. Note this mower has grease fittings on the blade spindles underneath the deck with no mention concerning them in the service manual. This may explain some thrown belts mentioned on other posts so grease before use. Mowing at #2 speed, 2nd highest setting gives best results when mulching 8-10" grass. Faster speed or taller grass adjust accordingly. On hill inclines try side to side cuts walking slightly downward of mower guiding uphill. Good mower for the price and task its required to perform. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Cadet Does it Again This mower is the answer to anyone who longs for the manuicured lawn only provided by a lawn service. This mower allows for a nice wide (33") path to be cut without much effort. I have used a 22" mower for years and could never justify buying a wider mower fearing that I would have too much mower. Well, "ol trusty" finally bit the dust so I bought Cadet's 33" mower. I swear that I cut my lawn in about half the time and that includes pulling this machine out and returning in my garage. WARNING-this machine boogies. I have never taken it out of medium speed. August 3, 2007
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the greatest Bought this mower to help cut some of our slopes and smaller areas at our church since our bigger riding mower can't get those areas safely. This mower is heavy and the belt that controls the drive speed comes off is you are not very careful with releasing the drive handle. If you release too quickly the belt will come off. The little guides that are supposed to hold the belt on do not work well so we had to bend them in a little closer to keep the belt from popping off. Cuts well but again, very heavy mower to control. Recommend for flat areas. May 12, 2009
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by not a good product first of all the power of this product would have got a ten but the deck is built bad i already need a belt for this mower after 1 mowing of a lawn that takes 15 minutes to mow the service is bad because in order to get it fixed on its warranty i have to let them ship it off to Texas to get it fixed witch takes 3 to 4 weeks which i would go without any way to mow my lawn the store also dint carry the belt so i have to live with week blades so if you don't mind 10 horse power being wasted on slipping belts this is the product for you July 21, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Mower I have used the mower for three months, and am very please with it. I was torn between a riding mower and this unit. My property is pretty hilly and I have a lot tight spots to cut around. This mower gets very close to tree trunks and walls, which I don't think I could do as easily with a tractor. Mower has plenty of power and cuts well. Mower quality is excellent and feels solid. My cut time is about half verses my old 21 inch mower. I ordered the bagger attachment from Cub Cadet, and this also works very nicely. Hooking the bagger adapter to the chute is a little bit of a struggle, but once it is on, it stays on. I used a bungee cord to attach the bag to the adapter instead of the tie strap that was provided. It makes it easier to dump the bag. I’d buy it again. August 19, 2008
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by close to perfection this is a perfect lawn mower for any size yards. this mower is perfect cause it has plenty of horse power to cut through anything. i am six and a half feet tall and the grass was up to my knees and it is very thick and it had no problem at all. there was one small problem is that after you greece the front wheels they are still a little hard to turn but they just have to be worked in. but other than this this is a perfect mower. and after you cut the grass this lawn mower makes it look really nice and professional. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good mower I bought this reconditioned at home depot (the gauge had only 8 hours on it) for about 50% off. it's lasted me just over 2 full mowing seasons; I have 1/2 acre to mow and it cut my time down by 30 minutes compared to the 22' push mower I'd been using. It's been dependable/functional; no major complaints except I wish you had the option to lock the drive throttle in place as you can't have the blades engaged and the mower moving without using both hands.
