Hi, if I bought the snow blower I would want to store it in my basement. That would mean going up and then down about 12 concrete steps. I think I could get it down ok, but I wonder about getting it out of the basement. If I started the machine and put it in reverse, would I be able to climb the steps backwards using the machine's drive power?

Hello - We do not recommend driving this unit up and down flights of stairs, mainly for the safety factor considering that the Cub Cadet 3X 28" snow thrower weighs almost 300 pounds. Thank you for your question.

Answer:
It's heavy so I wouldn't advise it. I'm in better than average shape - I can move it around my garage and driveway without to much trouble, but I cannot imagine taking it up and down steps. Beyond the capacity to move all that weight you risk slipping, and injury to yourself and the machine.

I know that most manufacturers now rate their engines by displacement. It is my understanding that two engines with the same displacement can produce different amounts of power. Does Cub Cadet have a Horse Power rating for 357cc engine?

Answer:
Hello, We specify engine size and capacity using engine displacement, because it is a highly reliable and consistent way to describe an engine’s capacity. We do not provide horsepower ratings in connection with the engines we design. Thank you for your question.

Clean surface with one pass?

We have a working snow blower, but it does not get down to the concrete and leaves a coating of snow that then freezes and causes a problem getting up the driveway if we don't hand shovel or de-ice. I see our neighbors getting down to the concrete with smaller units than ours (Honda is one brand). We are doing a 3 car garage 20 yard long driveway on an incline (maybe 10-15% grade). We get a few heavy snows a year (>5" and < 9"). Many times we have 3-4". This seems like too much machine for our use in Nebraska, but it has the best rating for surface cleaning. Any other options? What do you recommend?
Thanks.

Answer:
I recommend Ariens. I have tried the Cub Cadet 3x both get down to the pavement when you have the slide guides adjusted correctly, which is very easy to do. But I find the Ariens can throw the snow farther even though the Cub Cadet have a larger engine than the Ariens.

Answer:
Hello. I would suggest that the machine that you have linked (3x28) will work for what you have described. You would most likely be able to get away with a 2-stage of the same width, but the 3-stage is more efficient. Thank you for your questions.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Club Cadet legend I havnt had an opportunity to use my new Club Cadet Snow blower yet, but I grew up with Club Cadet tractors. My father would only buy those tractors as they held b up and ran well for years and years. My construction manager reviewed all your tractors and snow blowers. He's dealt with CC products for many years, and this one was his top recommendation. Can't go wrong wen you listen to guys with years of experience in tractors and snow blowers. He said my new one made him sad that he didn't have it. But his of 10 years plus just doesn't give him an excuse to replace it.

The Good: does its job there is the power to even remove the wet heavy snow we got this December 2016, works even better on normal snow great on the drifts. Power steering work great,. get your running shoes on when your in 5+ gear I really mean it you'll be running removing the snow; The Bad: the controls are hard to get at when you have gloves on, the electric starter is on one side the chock and accelerator on the other and behind the handle. It's great that the handle can fold down easy for summer storage but it need a better stable fit when in use, (zip-strip to stabilize the handle) on the lower section of it. The Ugly: the learning curve to use the snow blower with the power steering and speed to use for the different snow. Over all very happy with it:

The first was ~4 inches of light snow, the second was on ~6 inches of slushy stuff. The blower performed well in all aspects except for the chute control. The pin provided to hold the chute control rod spit out of the rod about 5 minutes into the first job. Took 20 minutes to find and it popped off again after being put on. I got a piece of wire and ran it through the hole and tied it off on itself. It is holding just fine but all in all I think the chute control of this unit is completely out of whack when compared to the rest of the controls. Everything else feels like high quality components- powerful, rugged, heavy. The chute control by contrast feels like it belongs on a much cheaper unit - very disappointed here.

There are two negatives first I have a gravel driveway and it as a hard time on uneven surfaces keeps catching, after running a snapper for 20 years I like its light weight but the snapper did have a cleaner path at the end of each pass

I used it the first time in the last snow storm in Connecticut on Jan 8, 2017. It was a 6 to 8 inch snow fall and I only use low speed. These are the problems that I encountered. The augers did not pick up the snow very well and keep plowing the snow in front of the auger housing. What snow it did pick up only shot out of the chute about 10 to 12 feet extremely disappointing performance. As for clearing the snow at the end of the driveway that the snow plow leaves it only climbs the piles, it does not remove the piles of snow as advertised . (Note none of the shear pins on the auger are broken). The gear box also made a grinding sound each time the forward motion or the auger was engaged. The home office of Cub Cadet was notified and they recommended that I contact the selling Cub Cadet dealer (which I did) and the dealer is coming to my home to pick up the snow thrower investigate and hopefully correct the problems. UPDATE TO BE FORTH COMING.
