Hi, if I bought the snow blower I would want to store it in my basement. That would mean going up and then down about 12 concrete steps. I think I could get it down ok, but I wonder about getting it out of the basement. If I started the machine and put it in reverse, would I be able to climb the steps backwards using the machine's drive power?

Hello - We do not recommend driving this unit up and down flights of stairs, mainly for the safety factor considering that the Cub Cadet 3X 28" snow thrower weighs almost 300 pounds. Thank you for your question.

Answer:
It's heavy so I wouldn't advise it. I'm in better than average shape - I can move it around my garage and driveway without to much trouble, but I cannot imagine taking it up and down steps. Beyond the capacity to move all that weight you risk slipping, and injury to yourself and the machine.

I know that most manufacturers now rate their engines by displacement. It is my understanding that two engines with the same displacement can produce different amounts of power. Does Cub Cadet have a Horse Power rating for 357cc engine?

Answer:
Hello, We specify engine size and capacity using engine displacement, because it is a highly reliable and consistent way to describe an engine’s capacity. We do not provide horsepower ratings in connection with the engines we design. Thank you for your question.

Clean surface with one pass?

This question is from 3X 28 in. 357cc 3-Stage Electric Start Gas Snow Blower with Power Steering and Heated Grips

We have a working snow blower, but it does not get down to the concrete and leaves a coating of snow that then freezes and causes a problem getting up the driveway if we don't hand shovel or de-ice. I see our neighbors getting down to the concrete with smaller units than ours (Honda is one brand). We are doing a 3 car garage 20 yard long driveway on an incline (maybe 10-15% grade). We get a few heavy snows a year (>5" and < 9"). Many times we have 3-4". This seems like too much machine for our use in Nebraska, but it has the best rating for surface cleaning. Any other options? What do you recommend?
Thanks.

Answer:
I recommend Ariens. I have tried the Cub Cadet 3x both get down to the pavement when you have the slide guides adjusted correctly, which is very easy to do. But I find the Ariens can throw the snow farther even though the Cub Cadet have a larger engine than the Ariens.

Answer:
Hello. I would suggest that the machine that you have linked (3x28) will work for what you have described. You would most likely be able to get away with a 2-stage of the same width, but the 3-stage is more efficient. Thank you for your questions.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 40 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by I like what was in the video Surprise no intructions to asamblea No oil shipped with this equiment and also no starting cable. After I was told before purchasing that the snow flower will be ready to use just to add oil and gas. False need assembly and no instructions and now I have to research what can of oil I need to protect my purchasing June 21, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Still missing a part. Waiting for Home Depot to respond to my email. Probably is a good machine, but I still don't have the control rod. So I can't finish the assembly. May 11, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very unsatisfied For the first two snows worked great Those snows were about 10 to 12 in and light. The next snow was about 15 in and wet. Went through 6 shear pins on the impeller. . Had to use bolts in place of the shear pins to complete the task. Today the forth time being used, another heavy spring snow, the control cable on the arguer is not working. Cost me $175.00 to be plowed out. April 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Powerful snowblower I live in Long Island, New York and this snow blower came a few days before a big blizzard we got hit with. It had no problem getting through the big mounds left at the end of the driveway or wet snow either from another storm. I have alot of trees by my driveway also and was worried when twigs got in it but this snowblower kept going and spit the twigs out. The only thing I didn't like was the instruction manual on how to put the chute together, it could definitely be better. Other than that this is a great snowblower I have already recommended to friends. February 10, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Cub Cadet snow blower MISSING PARTS The snow blower arrived all craged up with six(6) MISSING PARTS!!!!! Cub Cadet would NOT send the missing parts They had it picked-up4 dayslater. Still waiting on credittomyaccount March 22, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Better than torro but not as good as Ariens Even though it has a more powerful engine than the Ariens It did not throw the snow as far. Also when ever I went to disengage the auger it made a nasty noise. Upon in inspection the noise was caused by a piece of metal that kept the belt from falling off the auger pulley when you disengage the auger. Also the 2nd shear pin on the third stage is difficult to replace due to location and space to work in! I exchanged it for a Ariens, even though they are only 2 stage machines. February 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by No Doubt - Good Machine Nearly ready out of the box. Easy to assemble using online directions from HD (those included in box were unclear). Came with oil, only needed gas. Easy to adjust guides. Total setup less than 30 mins from crate to ready. Cuts through 3' drift with ease, excellent for clearing snow the plow leaves in your driveway. 3-stage feature appears worth the upgrade as it cleans more and throws further than other brands. Heated handles, power steering are awesome. February 1, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very satisfied Snow chute sticks when in far left or right position so you have to give it a manual push before using the handle February 24, 2016
