Just put mine together and it must be an update to the older ones. Mine came in two sections for my 42 inch mower. The tubes sort of float between each other so you can raise and lower your deck without having to mess with the tubes. Works perfect! :)

The bagger is designed with a 3-piece section tube assembly. However, some models of attachments are limited to specific units. We recommend that you consult your Owners guide and verify the correct bagger is purchased. Thank you.

Answer:
Yes the tubing comes in three sections. There is a rubber strap that holds the two bottom pieces together. This can be released to clear clogs easily. The upper piece slides over the short section and stays in place by the gasking and the lid. I have had no problems with them not staying together.

Yes, mine came with 3 sections, and I finally used duct tape to keep it together, which makes it inconvient, when i need to take apart if the tubing gets clogged

The blades that come with the mower do a good job of mulching. I know with my cub cadet they do recommend the mulching blades which I will purchase when we do our fall cleanup. I hope that helps!

You can use them, but the bagger works much better when you use the 42" mulching blades as it cuts the glass much finer. You can purchase the blades at the Home Depot.

Yes, depends on the year of the tractor . I have the same tractor. Just FYI, you will need the extreme blades for the mower to push the clippings into the bagging system. Cub Cadet did not put a lot of thought into their bagging system prior to 2013. The 2013 version is better, but still needs some work. Shop around for the best price...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I don't do reviews.... I don't usually write reviews, matter of fact this is my first one, but this bagger has made an incredible difference in my yard. I bought my Cub Cadet LTX1042KW two years ago. It did a good job but threw grass clippings everywhere. I upgraded to a mulching blade and mulch kit. This was better but I still had clumps of grass in my yard and grass all over my sidewalk and driveway after mowing. I kept reading reviews on this bagger and finally decided to give it a try. Purchased it on line because it was not in stock at my local store, and the price was the best I could find anywhere. Shipping and delivery was extremely fast, I had it at my front door in 3 days. The difference is incredible! After mowing my grass now looks like carpet and there is no mess on my sidewalk or driveway. I don't even need to get out my blower now. Yes it is a little pricey and I do have to empty it about 6 times for my 1/2 acre yard, but it saves time by not having to rake or use the blower, and my yard looks better than ever. Even my wife made the comment the last time I mowed, "That is the best purchase we have made this year!" June 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cub grass catcher, mower bought the cub mower, 42", (which came highly recommended by my neighbor) .....had to have the catcher,,,,was alittle worried about it because neighbor said the catcher was only "so,so..." did some research and found out that cub had updated the older unit and made improvements ,,,,,,,home depot sold me on it by saying if i didn't like it to "bring it back!", well roger that!!!!,,,,,,anyway, hooked it up and have cut with it 7 times,,,,,i give it a 95%,,,,,stills shoots some grass clippings at the top, but works really well,,,,,,I'm hanging onto it,,,,,,,together they (mower and catcher) make a great marriage!!!!!!!,,,,,,,thanks,,,,,, August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the Bagger, Excellent air flow and lift to catch the grass. I have had several lawn tractors with grass catchers, but this Cub Cadet is the best. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cub Cadet Bagger Excellent product after I removed the cardboard insert in the tube duh!!!! Easy on and easy off for storage! Two wing nuts!! Not sure how the foam tape protecting the tube from the catcher will hold up! Already starting to show serious wear from removing the bagger for storage! August 23, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not what I expected Previously had a Sears Craftsman tractor and bagger for 13 years. This Cub Cadet bagger is definitely not as sturdy. Having a problem with grass not getting inside the bagger. It shoots out from underneath the deck and through the top of the bagger. The lid doesn't seem to fit snug or tight. There is no blockage in the chute. It was installed by Home Depot Tech. Also worried that the seams will tear and it will not last because is not as durable as my previous bagger. I called Cub Cadet who advised me to take it to an authorized dealer for repair. The dealer asked if it was purchased there. When I told him no, he said there would be a $100.00 pick up fee. He said he would check into finding out if the type of blades that came with tractor could be the problem and call me back. He never did. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works well even with (GASP!) wet grass. Bought this for a XT1 42" Cub Cadet to maintain rental houses as well as personal residence. That's 3 acres of weekly cutting. Fast shipping, easy to assemble extra parts for several models included. Took about 18 minutes (after reading instructions and identifying all parts) to assemble & start bagging. I have not installed the mulching blades, so clippings are larger than walk behind with mulching blades. I don't usually bag my fescue clippings, but I have leaves and small twigs 11 months of the year. I bag the areas where the birch trees litter constantly. First try in damp grass (fescue one inch cut) was clog free. Not same for 3 inches of dry mixed grass at the rental property lower forty. It works great on leaves & twigs cutting my prep time (pre-cut blowing & raking) to zero. Same design issue as found on mulch plate. This part does not keep the air stream contained & properly directed. I foresee a redneck repair coming to stop clippings from spraying out the edges of the plug & from around the lower lip of decking. Does an excellent job of removing most of the clippings on the fescue lawns. I am anticipating even better results when mulching blades with higher lift are installed this fall. The two bags hold all the wet grass I want to lift and bottom handles on bags make lift onto the compost pile easier. I think the bags will last as long as the mower. Metal parts are thick enough to take some abuse & powder coated to resist rust. Has an extra 5/8" hole in lower mounting plate so I can pull a cart with the bagger attached on the XT1 42". I remove and store bagger and mounting brackets after each use. One wing nut at deck & one hitch pin at rear mounting plate make removal fast. Overall I recommend spending the extra $ on this over a generic bagger. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Big help Put on myself in about an hour. Works great as long as everything is dry August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great bagger it was simple to install and its easy to take off when I am using the mower with out the bagger, very nice and easy August 16, 2016
