Answer:
I've found the sweeper is excellent for picking up pine needles although, depending on how much they are embedded into the grass it may take a couple of passes at different angles to pick up the majority of the needles. The brush doesn't seem to get loaded with needles during use.

Mine did. I had more pine needles than leaves in many loads. I did not even realize there were so mony needles under all those leaves and pine cones.

Answer:
No. I don't even use it while I am mowing, for 2 reasons. One, I don't have to worry about hampering my mobility such as if backing up. Second, it picks up clippings a lot better after they have dried in the sun for an hour or so. I only go where the excess clippings are. My mower is 42".

Interesting....Cub Cadet says the unit has bronze bushings and no gears. And yet on a subsequent question state the gears are metal. There is nothing metal in the wheels, gears or bushings.

Answer:
The wheels are plastic and have a plastic gear molded in. The gear on the wheel drives a plastic gear attached to the end of the shaft that drives the brushes.
The bushing that Cub Cadet states is bronze is not bronze. It is plastic as well.

Home Depot was not too helpful and said I had to call Club Cadet. So I called them and they said I had to call Agro-Fab which makes the part. If you are buying from Home Depot, they should do that work for you. Anyways, Agro-Fab sent the part overnight. Of course getting through to all companies takes time. The assembly is a little complicated but I finally put it together. Still not sure if it is put together 100% correctly. However, the sweeper does work well and it is a good product. I have a ton of leaves so makes the job much easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sweeper Very impressed with this guy - assembly was straightforward aside from the instructions not having much detail. Really has a large capacity, gathers all debris from the lawn and pulls smoothly without wheel bounce. Empties easy Last feature that impressed me was the ability to pull a few things off the sweeper, then you have the ability to fold flat against a wall. This takes up about a 12"x50" footprint and a height of approx. 48"

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very pleased with this unit. My property has many tall pine trees on it. This year, the pine trees have shed pine needles at an alarming rate. Raking these needles by hand had proven to be a useless task because after just a few days, the trees have once again shed a thick layer of pine needles on my lawn. After reading thru the reviews on various lawn sweepers, I ordered the Cub Cadet. Assembly was simple just as some of the reviews had described. To my amazement, the Cub Cadet picked up pine needles, pine cones, sticks, leaves and grass clippings very well. Overall, I am happy with the performance of the Cub Cadet. I would highly recommend this unit to my friends and family.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeded My Expectations Purchased the Cub Cadet Lawn Sweeper a few weeks ago, and it arrived quickly and in good condition. The unit was easy to assemble with the supplied instructions and on-line videos. I have never used a lawn sweeper before and was amazed at how well it works. Spring cleaning the debris leftover from last Fall and Winter was a breeze. Our home is surrounded by acres of standing trees on three sides. Blowing and racking leaves by hand is not practical. I wish I had found out about lawn sweepers years ago. It also works well on grass clippings and very small sticks, but excels in picking up leaves. It empties easily without having to get off my zero-turn mower. Highly recommmended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, great sweeper The sweeper was fairly easy to assemble however, the packaging still needs improvement. Due to the manner which the box was handled sometime during shipment, a portion of the metal was bent. Fortunately, it was not a functional part, merely esthetics and easy to straighten - - - however, it's still disappointing this small "defect" with some flaked off paint existed prior to first use. I've only used it twice but found that it does a very good job picking up leaves, pine needles, pine cones and small branches. It has a large capacity and if picking up more than leaves, it's smart to empty it more frequently than one might think. The weight of grass clippings, etc. with the large volume capacity can make emptying difficult for the average individual. Having said that and managing the load properly, it is very easy to dump the load using the attached lever designed facilitate dumping. I haven't used the offset feature yet but, I'm convinced it will provide tremendous benefits.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Sweeper This sweeper works great, picks up grass clippings and pine cones. Receiving it with all the parts or not all beat up is another thing. We received first sweeper and a part was bent making it unusable so returned it to Home Depot with no hassle and received a whole new sweeper. Second sweeper arrived and corners of the sweeper were bent and paint was peeling off. We kept 2nd sweeper and put it together because it functions just looks a little beat up.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good sweeper Nice sweeper that was very easy to assemble. Just like other reviews I read the unit came damaged due to the poor packaging. The manufacturer basically throws it in a box and hopes that the shipping company will treat it with care. I called Home Depot and sent them pictures and they were quick to offer replacement. The damage was just cosmetic and since it is a lawn sweeper I negotiated a refund based on the damage. Other than that the unit works very well much better than my old one.
