CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good mower. Great for smaller yards Good mower. Appears to be solidly built. Full pressure oil system on engine is a bonus. Good power. Tight turning radius is good for obstacle filled yard. May 15, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect for my yard I recently moved to a house with a 1/2 acre yard. I tried to keep up using a 22 inch self propelled push mower but quickly realized I needed something a bit faster and more powerful. I looked at some 42 inch deck riders and a 30 inch walk behind from Toro. I have a 48 inch wide gate opening leading to the back yard. I new if I bought a rider with a 42 inch deck I wouldn't have much clearance through the gate so I decided against it. The 30 inch Toro retails for about a grand so I figured why not t spend a little extra and get a 30 inch deck rider. I chose the Cub Cadet over the Troy Built and Craftsman models even though they were cheaper. I've had Craftsman walk behind mowers in the past and while the engines were great I found myself frustrated with a few design flaws. Have no experience with Troy Built but chose the Cub Cadet ver it because of the strong reputation for quality and longevity. As far as the mower goes, it was shipped by truck to the curb and the driver put it where I asked in my driveway. Assembly was easy (about 30 minutes by myself). I read the operating instructions and it fired right up and I was mowing within an hour of the delivery. The mower cuts well even though the deck float is limited. The mower has plenty of power and is pretty easy to handle overall. The only gripe I have is the brake/clutch pedal is a bit jumpy but I'm hoping that goes away in time. I have used the unit for 6 mowings so far with no issues. I used slow speeds the first couple times but the more I use it the easier it gets and the faster I can go. I love the mowing in reverse feature and the controls are all pretty easy to access on the fly. The only things I would change if I could would be to make the deck float better and make the turning radius a little smaller. I can live with both the way they are though. My yard looks great and my mowing time is less than half of what it was with the walk behing mulcher. I highly recommend this mower for anyone with a big yard that has a smaller size gate to go through or anyone who doesn't want a big riding mower. June 17, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Mower. Odd Delivery Experience. I chose this rider because of it's short turning radius and smaller than normal deck (30"). It needed to go through a fence gate. I un-crated and assembled the mower with minor difficulties. The bottom of the crate had to be disassembled and knocked apart It is a two person job I managed to do alone. Assembly of the mower was easy enough. I could not find the starter key until I could move the mover off the crate base. It was lying in the bottom. I do not understand why it wasn't in one of the parts bags. If it was in the ignition to start with, the mower must have had a rough trip. No parts were missing. Everything was in good shape. After doing all the necessary preliminary checks, the engine started okay. I was looking for a mower with a throttle. This unit has one however it is only useful when moving from one place to another as the Cub Cadet is only supposed to mow at full throttle. The engine is strong enough to move my 200 lbs and itself around well however traction can be a bit of a problem when tackling some very tall grass. All in all I am quite pleased with the mower. It does what I needed doing. May 27, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by CC-30 The mower rides well and the steering is excellent. Works well for cutting the grass and getting through a narrow gate. I wish the brake was on the right instead of left. Also the key placement is below seat and a little awkward to reach. But other then those two minor issues, we are very pleased with the mower. Also very appreciative of the effort by the local Home Depot to work with delivery and setup in competition to ordering directly from Amazon instead. I researched various mowers of this size and selected this model. August 26, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Post season review update I just finished the mowing season so I thought I would add an updated review. After using the mower for the whole season I can back up my earlier review that this is a great mower. Now that mower has been "broken in" so to speak, the motor runs strong and smooth. When I first got the mower the clutch/breaks were a little jumpy but that has smoothed out which makes the unit very easy to operate. Im looking forward to next season already. I would definitely buy this mower all over again. November 7, 2014
