The chain saw was modeled after the Eager Beaver I had. I looked at all the other brands, but the Cub gave me the most for the dollar - largest engine, bar, warranty, and auto oil. When you read reviews on saws, one of the chief issues was getting the saw started. If you followed the directions which is on the saw, it will start. The issue becomes the warm-up period. It should run for 30-60 second before your release the throttle, and if you don't wait you will drown it. They don't tell what to do if is does conk out, but like most equipment you get use to it and know how ti get it restarted - set the throttle and pull. Once it is warmed it it is easy to restart. Some other issues: 1, Run-Start button is stiff, 2. nuts to remove and set chain were factory tight - it bent the tool that came with the unit, but once you crack it it is not a issue, 3. The chain needs to be tie to the bar or it will pop off, 4. it also took a while to figure how to put the brake assembly back after restting the chain. It has plenty of power and cuts easily - I recently cut (knotty) red oak, box elder, and ash.

Bought the chainsaw online, & received it directly at my residence in only a few days! FAST shipping!! Came with a nice carry case and even a small quantity of Chain Bar Oil & 2-Cycle Engine Oil for initial fuel tank filling/mixing. A few days after receiving it, I sat down and read through the entire manual for familiarization, filled both reservoirs, did the starting procedure ( a real pain), and finally got it to start. Engine idled VERY roughly and died frequently during usage, when releasing the throttle trigger. Cut really great through massive 28" diameter oak tree trunks as if cutting through hot butter though! GREAT power!! Ran the initial tank of fuel dry while cutting felled trees, refilled fuel and bar oil reservoirs. Engine absolutely REFUSED to re-start after the first tank of fuel ran out. Took out the spark plug, and it was bone dry. Wasn't getting fuel into the combustion chamber, even after choking & priming. (I'm a small gas engine & automotive mechanic.) Took it back to the local store for a refund.

Had to return this chainsaw back to the home depot after running out a full tank of gas. Only had it for 1 month and after the gas ran out it wouldn't restart.

Great saw for the money. The only fault I see about this saw is it could have came with a better bar and chain. Other than that it has ran great, starts easily after it's been running. I have use it three times in three weeks.
