Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WILL NOT START EASY WORST MOWER I'VE EVER HAD It was hard to start from the beginning. Have mowed with it about 6 times, and It takes a lot of cranking to get it started. It is impossible to call the Cub Cadet company, it's an endless series of: "Press 1 for this, press 2 for this" and on and on. I spent 30 minutes yesterday, and never got to talk with a single real person. I will never buy a Cub Cadet again. It cuts great, but a new tractor should start on the first crank, and a company should respect their customers enough that they WANT to talk to you. August 12, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Will never buy another cub cadet again Worst mower ever spent more time working on it than mowing zero stars April 23, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not impressed. Bought new in 2011, and admit I mow 5 acres, but its level ground. Engine is the best component. This season I had to replace all mower deck idler/ tensioner pulley bearings, 2 spindle bearings, (sealed bearings) one mandrel (self tap bolts fell out breaking mounts). Went back with bolts, locks & nuts. Replaced one drive belt pulley. Front wheels run on plastic bushings! Don't run mower deck at anything less than full throttle, as a resonance sets up in the mower belt that can snap the belt. Being a R&D engineer with a home machine shop keeps this going, but still have to much down time every year to get ready to mow. My last Cub was 18 years old with less problems. It does cut well when running I will say. April 4, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 1054 SLTX garden tractor I bought a Cub Cadet 1054 SLTX garden tractor Sept. 09 and have had nothing but problems with it. The engine seems to be the only good thing about this. Since buying this I have had to replace one tire liner, replaced 2 drive belts, replaced all three blades. Of course non of those are warranty issues. I also had the electric PTO/Clutch go out on me and had to be replaced after waiting about 3 weeks to have it fixed, and I also just recently had the right front tire just fall off. The bracket slipped out of the rod. Not sure how that happend but I sure wish there was a lemon law for lawn mowers. July 6, 2010
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not your grandfather's Cub Cadet! Since MTD bought the Cub Cadet line (no longer IH), this is basically a MTD riding mower that is painted yellow and white with Cub Cadet badging. The quality is very poor. I have owned two other Cub Cadets by IH, and they were built like tanks and reliable. This mower has a 26 hp engine, yet it still gets choked out in tall grass! Make sure that you grease the spindles several times per season during use, or you will smoke the deck belt when the spindle siezes. Oh, and an OEM belt replacement is $80.00. The deck-wash hose fittings seem to speed up rusting out the underside of the deck. Belt cover bolts that are tapped into the deck have stripped out after two seasons. I have to set the deck height to #7, any lower and it throws a belt. The hydrostatic transmission has no user serviceable parts, and after three years is now making a whining noise. The cowl is plastic and is not fastened down so it bounces when cutting grass. It seems the mower is designed so that you will buy a new one every three to four years. My previous Cub Cadet lasted 20 years, and I bought it used! It seems that several manufacturers have gone this planned obsolescence route. My suggestion is to buy a cheaper mower and plan to replace every few years. This is not an inexpensive mower, and I didn't expect to have this many problems. Save your money and don't think this is anything like the older Cub Cadets. April 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great tractor This is my first Cub Cadet mower. I wasn't sure if I would like the 54inch cut. I love it..My yard is little on the rough side but it makes a nice cut. I mow about an acre. I was pleasantly surprised with the kohler engine. I contemplated the ltx1050kw because of the Kawasaki engine. it took a couple visits to the local dealer before I decided. I went with the lgt 1054 because of the taller tires and bigger engine. If cub cadet were to put the Kawasaki engine in the lgt1054 I would have puschased on the first trip to dealer... Also the fuel consumption is surprisingly low for the size engine..Basically this is a great mower and am very pleased so far. May 1, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Well worth it I have owned 2 craftsman tractors, this cub cadet puts them both to shame. I liked the set up and features of this machine the e-z to read fuel level, cruise control, 54" cut, adjustable seat but most of all the 12" turning radius. This machine has cut my mowing time down by about 50 % and my last tractor had a 52" cut, only 2" difference but the tighter turning radius makes all the difference in time. The cut is even and precise and i can cut my lawn 4 times on 1 tank of fuel instead of only twice. The 26 hp Koler engine is even quieter then the 24 hp Koler in my last tractor. I will be working this machine for many many years, it saves time, fuel and my back. June 11, 2009
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality Mower I have used this for 1 season and so far its been a great mower. The hydrostatic drive is loud which is my only complaint to date. Over-all this mower is fantastic. The ride is super smooth and the turn radius will impress you. I would buy this again. March 17, 2011
