On the specs. It lists that this can use ground engaging attachments. But in another question here a cub cadet person said that it doesn't accept ground engaging attachments. Which is it?

Don't know which ones they are referring to. I can pull a 48" lawn sweeper behind my LGTX 1054 mower. They call it a garden tractor, but there are not any garden tasks that I can do with my mower.
My old 18 hp Cub Cadet could and did run a 50" mower, a 38" garden rototiller, pull a 12" garden turning plow, handle a box blade and a set of cultivation discs from the 3-point hitch and electric power

Answer:
Hello Stephen. The LGTX1054 54 in. 27 HP Twin Kohler Courage Hydrostatic Riding Mowers are not designed for use with any type of ground-engaging attachments (e.g. tiller or moldboard plow). Use of this type of equipment will void the tractor's warranty. A list of the acceptable attachments are located in the back of the owner's manual. Thank you for your question.

LGTX1054 54 in. 27 HP 722 cc V-Twin Hydrostatic Front-Engine Gas Riding Mower with Power Steering is rated 3.5 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Need better documentation I have mowed 16.5 hours with this mower and of course had to adjust the mowing deck to get it to mow right. I bought a mulching kit and put it on yesterday. It took all day and the directions were terrible. They sent 3 bolts with the kit and no directions what they were for. The blocker that came with it came out half way thru my trial mow of half hour. You can't get the nuts off to put new blades on with normal equipment. I ended up with a spring and thick washer that I don't know where it came from. My last mower came with the mulching kit on it. The mower is great but without the mulching kit you have to rake grass and leaves.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great Little Machine !! I have the 2011 SLTX 1054 , Which is the same as the 2013 1054.. I have read a lot of current reviews and I have to say that I have had Zero Problems with mine at all.. As a matter of fact.. in Sept 2011 mine had 22 hours on it and I pulled the battery out and put Sta Bill in the gas tank.. left it in the garage for 2 brutal North Dakota Winters. Today ( 5 / 4 / 13 ) was the first time it had been cranked since 2011...I charged the battery up and put it back in the mower , hit the choke and it turned over about 20 seconds and fired right up... Ran it for about an hour and it purrs like a kitten... I have had No Problems with my Cutting Deck or belts or pulleys..

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would be a great mower if it only worked right on grass. Almost all of this mower is first rate. I've used it several times. It cuts well. It seems sturdy and generally well built. Operation is easy, especially the power steering addition. All of that is essentially useless however. The steering system does not align the wheels right so that the outside wheel is always dragging when making a turn, even a not so sharp turn. That cuts the lawn and leaves large scars in the grass. I talked to Cub Cadet and they acknowledged the problem. It is now in for service to align the front end and replace the tires. Their promise is that this will improve it but not fix it. So we'll see if it is "good enough" to keep or not. The service will take 4 to 5 weeks however. It is essentially unbelievable that they would continue to see a product that they know is defective. And this also applies to the non-power steering version as well since the steering geometry is the same. Don't buy this model unless you are prepared to have issues with damaged turf.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1054 Have used the 54" mower since 2006 with 400 hrs on the mower, put new battery in this week, and with minimum maintenance since new,I expect one more year of reqular twice weekly use, will replace with the purchase of heavier commercial cub cadet. This model was a great purchase when new and sped up 8 hr job till now is finished in 3 or 4 hrs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's a nice machine that seems to be built well. The tractor has plenty of power and is easy to operate. The seat needs to be a bit more deluxe to absorb more of the bounce on rough ground. The mower deck is heavier than other brands in this class of tractor. As advertised, it has a very tight turning radius, but that feature is of little use on turf because when the front wheels are turned to the max the tire on the outside of the turning radius actually stops turning and is pushed sideways during the turn, gouging out an arc in the grass. The only way to stop the front wheel from tearing the grass during a turn is to NOT max the turn, left or right. If you are on a hard surface you can turn the tractor "on a dime," but on turf it will tear the grass every time. Maybe there is some way to adjust the steering to not allow it to turn so tightly. ???

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed mower deck The 54 in. deck simply does not have enough torque to cut and discharge grass. The belt pops of literally every time we attempt to cut our 2 acres. We have replace three belts in the last year at a cost of $85 apiece. The Cub Cadet service center says that it is a design flaw, the manufacturer denies this. We plan to sell it and take a loss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW! What a machine! I have had this monster for six months now and it impresses me every time I start it up. It is great! The quality of construction is excellent, the 27 HP is a real smooth powerhouse and the machine is very comfortable. The 54 inch deck makes cutting my acre of grass a breeze and I really like the power steering. I ordered it from Home Depot on a Sunday and it was at my front door on Wednesday from the factory. That is fast service I find it to be the most bang for your buck. I installed a nice sun shade ordered from Sears for M T D tractors and it is a blessing here in the Florida Sun.,

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Some good features, but..... I purchased this LGTX 1054 on-line, sight unseen, from Home Depot last month. Having owned a Cub Cadet for the past 20 years I was disappointed to find the machine was nothing to compare with the machine I have owned and used for the past years. When I ordered, the description on the web page did not fit the actual product that was delivered. I had compared the Home Depot's Cub Cadet mower with the exact same size Cub Cadet mower from a different on-line dealer. The one from Home Depot was three hundred dollars more money, but they described a stronger and heaver stainless steel frame, and the other mower did not. I was disappointed to see it arrived with a painted steel frame, the same as the other dealer described. The new mower arrived without shipping damage. The new mower is not built nearly as well as the one I already owned, made by International Harvester 23 years ago. The power steering, while advertising a very tight turning radius, causes the outside tire to track way sharper on the turn than the other inside tire. This peels up the grass with that tire leaving a disturbing scar on the lawn. Aside from these detracting features the machine starts and runs good, although I don't like the engine dying when I leave the seat, causing re-starting. I am aware that the blades should stop when not on the seat, but killing the engine is rediculous.
