CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good mower but skimped on some quality. I've owned this mower for about 90 days now and mow about 1/2 acre of hilly yard which almost none is level. It seems to do the job well but will know more next year when I get a full season out of it. The headlight assembly is pretty cheap. Water and dirt gets inside which reduces their illumination ability. I tried to seal the but stuff still gets in. The headlight bucket is just some very thin junk shiny plastic and the right bulb is burnt out. There needs to be a switch to turn them off because I mow mostly in the day and they aren't needed. I DO like the "mow in reverse" feature but it has disengaged twice so far. The turning radius is great but you must go very slow. The hood should have a latch because going down hill it opens up so I put velcro on it to keep it closed. The muffler should have been high heat painted because it's starting to rust along with the wheels and it's garage kept. Great power and mowes great but I need the lug type tires for the hills. I'll post again next year! October 19, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by most expensive paperweight I ever bought Bought this tractor 5 years ago when I got a new house because my ex loved the old Cub as much as I did. Unfortunately I had no idea how much Cub's quality has declined. Nothing but problems from the start. Deck leveling bracket broke after only 1 year then was no longer available to replace. Unit burned up batteries, belts and blade (the 3 Bs) faster that I could buy them. Non-stop fixes and adjustments to keep it running. Mower deck had to have all the guide wheels re-welded. And finally2 days ago, with only 210 hours use on it, the steering gears went bye-bye. I can't even bring up the parts list on the website to replace them. I'm not putting another penny into it and it's by the road waiting for the scrap metal people. I went out and bought a new Craftsman. At least they are not made by MTD. To sum it up in one word - JUNK. I will never buy another Cub product. September 15, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I currently own a LT1042- This machine reminds me of my first new car. The car was a fine GM product. Need I say more. Both share the same poor engineering and endless return visits to the dealer. To be fair, my LT 1042 is an earlier model with the Kohler single cylinder engine. After 100 hrs, the engine developed a leak. Fixed with a gasket. At 150 hrs, the PTO began to fail. At 210 hrs the cylinder head has cracked. I now regard Cub Cadet as highly as I do GM. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by it works very easy to start and operate, cut grass amazing without no problems, do not see why folks are bashing this machine, will up date if I have a promblem June 21, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower for price. Just started 2nd year with mower bought it half way through last season. Runs good, deck sits a little low i have to use the third setting from top so i don't scalp my yard. Changing the oil is easy its nice they included a hose so oil can be drained into a jug. I like to be able get off my mower to pick up sticks and what not when going around the yard so i removed the sensor from the seat and ran tape around it to hold the switch down, easy fix. Everybody on here says backing up is a pain, well for at least last years model not true. While your mower is running turn your key back to the yellow spot and push the reverse button, now leave it there the whole time you mow and all you have to do is put your shift lever to reverse. No more screwing with the mower shutting off because you forgot to turn your key back and push the button. The only other thing i need to fix is the headlights when i get around to it i will just put a switch in i think it looks dumb having them on unless your gonna be on the road (which i don't do). I wish the front weighed more when i turn on hills the front will not turn until the tractor is flat again. Last thing is it needs more aggressive rear tires, i get stuck almost every time i mow and have to rock myself quick to get unstuck. All in all a good mower i probably just push it harder than i should for something this size. May 6, 2014
