Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Engineered to Fail! Bottom line is that it is cheaply built with parts that are designed to fail and very expensive to replace! Check the part pricing before you buy! Keep reading if you want details on my experience. Check the part pricing before you buy! Initially I was happy with my purchase; however, after about 50 hours of use this mower began to show its faults. First the deck spindles gave out, and yes they were properly maintained. When I contacted cub-cadet about the warranty they said a service dealer would have to look at it and typically those were not covered because of normal wear. Well, living out in the middle of nowhere and the nearest dealer 50 miles away, I sucked it up and ordered new ones and again after about 50 hours those wore out as well. This was mostly the only problem, except for the oil drain plug, until I hit 200 hours (at which the warranty expired) when the muffler broke loose. At 210 hours a cheap bracket fell off which held the expensive electronic PTO clutch in place. This would not have been to big of a deal except that wiring harness into the clutch did not have a breakaway connector of any sort and the wire broke off at the clutch giving no way to repair it. An expensive part, which was fine otherwise, rendered useless because the self tapping screws that like to loosen up and fall out did just that. Upon fixing that my next problem occurred at 219 hours when the fuel pump quit. That has been repaired and now at 220 hours the engine is beginning to burn oil and cuts out after about 15 minutes of use. May 25, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not worth the $ Going from a 1985 Bolens to this i expected the difference to be HUGE. Boy was I WRONG. First impression was WOW this this is FAST, then i got to cutting. Cutting is smooth and easy until you hit a bump. Then your mower deck with also hit that bump and make a nice circle the size of the blade in your yard. At 4.7 hours on the meter and the mower deck at 7-10 for height the mower blade scalped the grass one more time and bent the blade 45 degrees. Also like other owners have stated your front tires love to dig in when cutting around trees. July 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So Far Pleased other than...... Purchased 3-27-2014.LTX 1045 This will be my 4th yard tractor but first better grade tractor. In doing some basic research I was more please with the performance of the Cadet than the John Deere.Very pleased with the cut, comfortable seating and seat.(Note: I am 6'-2"). Getting better than 2-1/2 cuts on a tank of fuel.Turning radius is what they say. The only problem is that reverse cutting button went out and I can not cut with the blades engage in reverse. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower Mower has been easy to use. It starts easily and has a great turning radius. Depending on the length of grass, I canowy acreage in no time. Then only problem I have had with it was my own fault. I hit a piece of rebar in the yard and bent a blade. I wasn't looking forward to pulling the deck and changing the blades. When I looked at the instructions it turned out to be easier than I expected. The instructions lead me through each step. They were easy to follow. It work great now. This is one of the best purchases I have made since moved into my new house. April 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Tractor!! Unloaded off the truck, cut 2+ acres in half the time(hour & a half) of my old mower... Love it!! March 22, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by 3 years old, well maintained, cracked engine block...DO NOT BUY!!! I purchased a 2010 LTX 1045 from Home Depot 3 years ago that just exceeded the warranty period; over this time period, I have been meticulous about ensuring that all preventative maintenance had been completed routinely, including: oil changes, general mechanical inspection before each use, cleaning after each use, changing the air filter 3X, and properly maintaining the deck (sharpening the blades, changing belts, cleaning, etc). Last weekend, SURPRISE!!! a nice big crack in the engine block! Never again will I purchase a Cub Cadet product OR for that matter, a cheaply built piece-of-garbage tractor from Home Depot. Fair warning...please do not make the same mistake that I did. August 2, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by You will be able to tell immediately if your neighbors buy one Because their lawn will be overgrown most of the time. This thing LIVES at the repair shop - you're lucky to get four consecutive weeks of work out of it. Who care if repairs are free if they take no less than two weeks and as long as a month in the summer? Cub Cadet doesn't have its own repair facilities, it uses other, existing shops which are ALWAYS backed up in the summer. The engine is completely underpowered for the job it has to do and breaks frequently - AND IS UNDER A SEPARATE WARRANTY FROM THE BODY. This means they want a whole different set of criterion to prove that you bought this piece of garbage. Because I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy, I'll keep it as a back up mower when I buy a REAL one next year. May 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Super Pleased I read all the naysayers and still chose the Cadet. I had a John Deere the body rusted off in 6 years, still ran good. The Cadet turns tighter has more power with less horsepower(5) and snaps your neck if you want. All in all much better than the JD. I like the back up option, the Koehler engine, 2 blades instead of 3 (cheaper), and all I gave up was 2" and saved over $400. I am very pleased with rider, you need to give a chance. Is it perfect? No!, but it is close. Part of it is me learning new controls, I have used it about 8 times so far and am learning the little differences. July 4, 2014
