I've had this lawn mower for 1.5 summers now. 1st summer I used it 4 times and got a complete lawn mowing from it. After those uses it would only run for 20 minutes or less before shutting itself down. I took it to a Cub Cadet service dealer who first tried to send me back home after tightening the battery cables. I made them mow their lawn with it and it shut down after 5 minutes. They then replaced the fuel pump and said they mowed their lawn and the problem was fixed. I took it home and same issue occurred during the first mowing. The same Cub Cadet service dealer then tried to convince me the problem was something completely different and that they had fixed the first issue. They implied that I used poor quality fuel AND reminded me I purchased the unit from Home Depot and not from them AND then asked me if I really expected them to believe I hadn't mowed my lawn with the mower the previous summer and that I must have a hay field by now. (Incidentally I mowed my lawn with my old 15 year old John Deere which proved to be more reliable than the new Cub Cadet.)
I now have the mower being serviced by a licensed repair service (not Cub Cadet service dealer) . He contacted Kohler and learned they are having trouble with their engines shutting down in this model.
This is a complete lemon and very costly. The mower has only 38 hours on it and I'm half way through the second summer and haven't been able to use it at all. I wouldn't recommend anyone buy a Cub Cadet lawn mower.

Going from a 1985 Bolens to this i expected the difference to be HUGE. Boy was I WRONG. First impression was WOW this this is FAST, then i got to cutting. Cutting is smooth and easy until you hit a bump. Then your mower deck with also hit that bump and make a nice circle the size of the blade in your yard. At 4.7 hours on the meter and the mower deck at 7-10 for height the mower blade scalped the grass one more time and bent the blade 45 degrees. Also like other owners have stated your front tires love to dig in when cutting around trees.

I bought this mower and thought I was getting a good product. It reviewed well and came highly recommended from friends and family. First couple of uses I was pleased. It cut well, ran good and started easily. That was until today. Four (and a half) mowings and 12 hours on the engine, it is broken and unusable. During use, the front left wheel came off and went under the deck. The tire got sliced, the rim got cut and one of the blades is now bent. I was really expecting a better piece of equipment than this. See the picture attached with the steering linkage off and the tire sliced.

I had a cub cadet 107 which I got for my yard and bought this to replace it. The only thing I don't like is the fact you have to shift the trans from forward to revearse. Had I known they still made the pedal shifted trans I would have bought that one. But this is still a good mower better that the larger one I bought from a major retailer for my girlfreinds 9 acrer apple orchard. Yes the last time I cut the grass there it was up to my knees and would make a good plkce to really test mowers, lol

I purchased a cub cadet last June and have had nothing but problems with it the drive belt keeps coming off the mower deck belts keep coming off. And now the starter just went up in the starter relay it just went up this tractor has caused me nothing but problems I paid $1,600 for a piece of junk. I do not recommend anybody ever buy a Cub Cadet piece of junk I would understand if my yard was very difficult to cut but I have a fairly flat yard and it is fairly smooth I do not cut down three foot grass I do not beat it to death any breaks all the time. I only gave it one star because it would not let me post this if I didn't give it star.

Bottom line is that it is cheaply built with parts that are designed to fail and very expensive to replace! Check the part pricing before you buy! Keep reading if you want details on my experience. Check the part pricing before you buy!
Initially I was happy with my purchase; however, after about 50 hours of use this mower began to show its faults. First the deck spindles gave out, and yes they were properly maintained. When I contacted cub-cadet about the warranty they said a service dealer would have to look at it and typically those were not covered because of normal wear. Well, living out in the middle of nowhere and the nearest dealer 50 miles away, I sucked it up and ordered new ones and again after about 50 hours those wore out as well.
This was mostly the only problem, except for the oil drain plug, until I hit 200 hours (at which the warranty expired) when the muffler broke loose. At 210 hours a cheap bracket fell off which held the expensive electronic PTO clutch in place. This would not have been to big of a deal except that wiring harness into the clutch did not have a breakaway connector of any sort and the wire broke off at the clutch giving no way to repair it. An expensive part, which was fine otherwise, rendered useless because the self tapping screws that like to loosen up and fall out did just that.
Upon fixing that my next problem occurred at 219 hours when the fuel pump quit. That has been repaired and now at 220 hours the engine is beginning to burn oil and cuts out after about 15 minutes of use.

I bought my LTX 1045 five years ago to cut my 2 acre yard. Now that it has stood the test of time I feel I can give an accurate review. With five years and over 250 hours on my machine I have had absolutely no problems with it. I have had other mowers of which none have been in the same condition at this point. Usually I am looking for a new mower by this time. This machine is ready for another five years and 250+ hours.
It takes me a little over an hour to mow the 2 acres. My rule of thumb is buy the size tractor that gets it done in one hour or less. The kohler engine is the best I have experienced even on more expensive models.

The LXT 1045 purchased from Home Depot, developed a noise after 4 hours in the drive system. I figured I would get it checked out . I called Cub Cadet number and they gave me 3 closest dealers for repair. Great right, I call them. They were all True Value stores and there first question was where did you buy it ? They said they will not look at it because I did not buy it there? What, Cub Cadet dealers? How can they represent Cub Cadet company that way!! Why does Cub Cadet allow this?? They should have rules to be one of their dealers. Thats why I say stay away. The tech guy at Cub Cadet gave me a dealer that would work on it, he was very good.
