I have owned my Cub Cadet for over three years. And it has seen it all, I use it on a two acre lot all in grass. I have used it for seeding, fertilizing, tilling, mowing, thatching and moving of more than 20 yards of 2 1/2" basalt rocks. Mine has the 21 horse power Kawasaki motor not like the new ones with the 24 horse power. But it has never let me down.

This Cub Cadet LXT1050 get's the job done! It take's me about 2 hours to mow my yard . This mower is very comfortable, it doesn't beat you to death. It does really good mowing my ditches which have a fairly steep incline. This lawn mower cuts the grass very smooth and evenly at a descent rate of speed. It also cut's great in reverse. I'm very impressed with its power. The grass clippings spread out nicely as well, no clumping or "puking" out of the chute. It takes nearly no effort to raise and lower the deck, and you can't beat the many height selections. It has a great turning radius which saves on the weed eating. Very happy with this machine!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JDice Worst Purchase EVER!
I purchased this model from the Brunswick GA Store about 16 months ago. I have had to replace three belts thus far, one pulley, and to start the mower I have to almost stand on the clutch or it just won't turn over. I have contacted service for Cub Cadet and the best they can tell me is that the belts are wear and tear and there is nothing they can do for me, the pulleys sometimes come loose and fall off, and the clutch issue, they suggested I pay someone to pick it up and service it. Wow, this is the LAST Cub Cadet I will ever purchase. I will not ever recommend this brand to anyone and will continue to compare this to my last riding lawnmower, the John Deere, which was perfect for the eight years I had it. The only reason why I do not have it any longer is because I moved to a smaller house with a much smaller yard and no longer needed it. I would recommend a John Deere mower to anyone interested in a quality product.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by NashvilleJoe Seems like an excellent buy
so i have had this mower about 2 weeks and first impressions are it is amazing- the cut is great- turning radius is actually surprising- but best of all is the power- i got this for hauling as much as for mowing- and it is a beast. I had an Deere LA145- it was a solid machine and i was used to it- but the Cub Cadet blows it away on just about every category except controls design- the breaking system is clumsy and feels very plastic- my bet is its the first thing to fail. Oh the mulch plug/kit is completely useless- it is held in by the plastic deck throw piece- seems like the plug should be able to replace it but you actually need it to hold the plug in place- very poor design- they should take a page out of the Deeres on that one.
Additionally the backup cutting feature is a bit cryptic- once you figure it out it makes sense- it just way over the top safety with buttons ext. Additionally- the PTO is nice but pops out every once in a while. Over all if this thing holds up- and some of the reviews regarding the belts have me worried, it will be an excellent purchase- FYI all the mowers in this price range have similar belting issues- so i am hoping that i have a Wednesday mower as opposed to a Friday mower ;) will update after a few months- but thus far- i'm really happy with the value and overall design!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Jumpstart Sick and tired of jumpstarting!!!!
I bought this mower in July of 2013 from Home Depot. After the second use it in was in the shop for not holding a charge. I was told they couldn't find any problems with the charging system but the battery had no charge so they charged it. Hmmmmm sounded funny to me too but anyways they brought it back and the next time I mowed there were no issues and everything was fine. The mow after that the battery was dead again. I bought a new battery thinking maybe the problem is the battery. With the new battery on the first mow no problems second mow battery dead and when I was almost done one of the pulleys broke. I called the repair shop again with no help from them as to why the battery is always dead or why the pulley failed. the shop would not even come get the mower I asked about getting the pulley and they sent me to another shop. I got the pulley put it on but I still have to jump start with every mow. I've had this almost 2 years now and I have almost 2 acres of yard to mow as of right now I have 28.9 hours on it. With the season just starting I'm going to call another repair shop to see if they can fix my issue. If it wasn't for me chasing this thing around the yard jump starting it when I run out of gas during mowing I would have giving it a good review but 2 years, many phone calls, and not being fixed can make a person just a bit upset.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ohiorancher A good Kohler engine...
mated to a decent lightly built lawn tractor with a really weak hydrostatic transaxle. Tuff-Torq K-46 or Hydro Gear 618-0319, both hydro transaxles are throw-away wonders.
This is the second LTX-1050 I've had. The first one (3 years old) is out in the garage with the replacement transaxle sitting next to it...waiting for me to R&R it.
The 1050 is a good machine for flat suburban yards, but it will not survive steep hills. Treat it like a disposable piece of equipment if you intend to use it on the farm, for cutting large yards or expect lots of stop and go mowing with reversing.
Recommended with above caveats.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by LJWW Great cut, but design flaws lead to extra $ & frustration
I have owned this model since April 2011 and have no complaints with the quality of cut this mower provides. My main complaints are with the deck belt replacement.
- Four deck wheels ensures that you have a even cut with no scalping
- 50 inch deck means I could cut my 3/4 acre yard in about 30 minutes
- Belt has broken twice with only 23 hours on mower
- $50 to replace a belt that is not stocked locally
- Deck must be removed to replace belt
- Belt guards and sharp spindle edges make replacing belt frustrating and ensure that your belt will break again soon
I recommend you check out one of these in person and have an associate demonstrate the pain involved in maintaining the deck components. If you don't mind the extra work and spending money on extra belts then you'll probably be satisfied with this mower.
