Why is this listed at 10% above MSRP?

CubCadet has this mower on its webpage listed at 449, for 499 the more powerful SC500EZ+ is listed. Is the pricing a mistake or does homedepot plan to restock the higher model at this price? Link to Manufacturer page:

What's up HD?

At $499 price point - why is HD SC500EZ the 159 cc Cub Cadet performance-tuned OHV engine when the Cub Cadet website shows the SC500EZ+ with the decidedly better 190cc Briggs & Stratton® OHV ? Also it looks like the HD SC500EZ has the Electric push-button, Thermal Autochoke w/ SureStart Guarantee® while Cub Cadet website shows the SC500EZ+ equipped with Electric push-button InStart™ by Briggs & Stratton. For the money, $499 will buy the SC500EZ+. What's up HD, usually you take the mfr model and add a few bells/whistles for same money. This instance you are offering a lesser engine for the same money...

SC500EZ 21 in. 159 cc 3-in-1 RWD Self-Propelled Push Button Electric Start Gas Lawn Mower is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Somewhat Disappointed I bought this mower with the hope that it would be easier to use and maintain than my previous Toro. After getting it home and looking at the maintenance info, it looks like there is a gas filter that needs to be replaced in addition to the usual plug and air filter which are easy. I tried mowing using the front casters unlocked, but that makes it very difficult to cut a straight line. I have several flower beds to mow around, but have given up and am using the casters locked which makes it more difficult to make turns. The electric start has been a major disappointment as it barely works, if at all. I took the mower in with this issue, and they replaced the battery. It typically starts after a lot of turning when cold, but when it is hot, I usually end up using the cord and this is the first use after charging the battery. It does mow very evenly and the yard looks nice when finished.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Mower I purchased this mower at the beginning of the mowing season to compliment my Cub Cadet rider. This new mower replaced a 16 year old Craftsman that served flawlessly all those years. It was just getting tired. I did a lot of research before purchasing and decided on the SC500EZ. There really isn't anything I do not like about this mower. It took a couple of yard mows to get use to the swivel front wheels but now I don't think I would want to be without them. This mower is quiet and as fast as I want it to go. I have found myself push mowing my yard more often than using the rider this season. Everything about it is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Machine Nine years ago I bought a Honda HRX217KHXA Mower. It did its job very well. I decided to look at other models. I looked at Home Depot and online for electric start mowers. I decided on a Cub Cadet model SC500Z from Home Depot, the electric start was more than I wanted to pay. I checked Cub Cadet to see if there was a price difference. The Cub Cadet price for the SC500EZ was less than the SC500Z from Home Depot. I selected the SC500EZ from Cub Cadet and made the call. Due to the Cub Cadet pricing I was able to get what I really wanted. When it arrived on 05-02-2016, I followed the instructions, started the mower and made a couple passes in the back yard. The Cub Cadet SC500EZ impressed me more than my Honda did when I first used it. The swivel front wheels work as advertised, it bags, has a side discharge and mulches. The single blade mulches a little larger than what my double blade Honda did, but it is only noticeable because I was looking to see the difference. The electric start on the SC500EZ is excellent. This will be a saving for me not having to pull start the mower. The Effortless Drive Control My Speed System is easy to get use to and works very well. I like this type of control because it is easy to adjust my speed as I move and it allows me to keep both hands on the comfortable handle. Changing the height of the front wheels is a little more time consuming but overall it is nothing to complain about. I am glad I bought the Cub Cadet SC500EZ.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Self Propelled I purchased this lawn mower with some reservations at first having owned a John Deere self propelled mower before this. It was getting difficult to get replacement parts for the John Deere. After purchasing the SC 500 EZ and using it for the first time, I was impressed. Easy electric start and much lighter than my John Deere self propelled. I just love that the front wheels turn independently and allows me to turn the mover without having to push down on the handle to lift the front end up to turn. It cuts down on my mowing time by about 10 to 15 minutes. Great mower. Highly recommend it to anyway looking for a good self propelled at a good price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Front wheels need redesign I Like the swivel wheel concept but front wheels need to be redesigned. Frequently front wheels have trouble going back to midline after full turn. Will carve trenches in lawn. Compensation: Lift front wheels up off ground while moving forward then let wheels return to ground and they will realign back to baseline. Otherwise has good power and nice forward speed. Also If you need to restart during a job, sometimes you have to take battery out and blow away dirt from battery contacts, reseat the Li ion battery, then it will start right up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from EZ to Turn Being over 60 with neck and back issues, I needed a machine that would be less strain on my back to turn. This definitely fit the bill and the electric start also helps. It has plenty of power to cut taller wet grass, within reason of course. It has more suction than a previous Troybilt unit. Would have liked easier to adjust swivel wheel height as well as a personal pace lever propel system like Troybilt. But my initial reason for purchase was reduced back strain as well as a closer turn radius for trimming so it met my need.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good mower, bad speed control Not as easy to operate as my previous models. The speed control is too touchy and hard on wrists and shoulders as it keeps changing speed. especially on any incline. Probably ok if the entire yard was smooth and level.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exceeds Expectations I've owned numerous mowers throughout the years, the latest being a Snapper Ninja mulching mower. But, after 10 years, it has been showing its age lately. After looking at many options, I decided we needed electric start for my wife and I wanted the maneuverability of front caster wheels. The Cub Cadet was the only reasonably priced option that had all of the features we were looking for. After mowing with the new Cub several times, to say we were impressed is an understatement. Although we haven't tried the bagger yet, mulching and side discharging was a pleasure. Our lawn has never been so level and there has not been any grass clumping either. The signature cut claim is right on and the caster wheel feature works as well as hoped. While it does take some getting used to, the self propelled feature is truly effortless. It's just different than a more conventional self propelled mower design. My main concern was going from a 190cc (875 torque) Briggs to the 159cc Cub made engine. Despite its smaller size, the Cub engine's power is impressive and it hasn't bogged while cutting up to 2" of grass while mulching or discharging. It's also much quieter than the Briggs and seems to go further on a tank of gas. We are very happy with the purchase of this mower and highly recommend it to anyone that asks. The mower has a ton of features at a great price and the results on the lawn are outstanding!
