It has a variety of settings which can accommodate anyone's needs. We like using fresh coffee beans so it is great for that but it also works well with ground coffee. It makes good coffee. I assume it is energy efficient but I am not sure so I did not rate it as "excellent".

The product works well, but the grinder is too loud to use on the programmed setting, as it would wake up the entire household! When beans are being ground, it sounds like a jet is taking off in my kitchen. It's also rather sloppy, ground beans tend to escape the grinding compartment.

This coffee maker is my new best friend. Not only does it make superior tasting coffee, but it's so easy to use. Cleaning it is a snap. It starts my day off perfectly, with my coffee all ready for me. And, I really enjoy making a pot at dinnertime for guests as they rave over the taste.

I love this coffee maker! It makes delicious and very hot coffee, which I love. I also really like the coffee pot itself because it pours really well (it doesn't drip every where like some coffee pots I've had do). I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a step up from your basic coffee maker.

Makes a great pot of coffee and I love the style of this coffee maker. I previously owned this model twice. Eventually had trouble removing the grinding cup as I've read in so many other reviews. Since I still prefer the look of this model over the other models on the market, so I purchased it again. This time, I read the instruction booklet which says to be sure the parts are dry before each use. So now I remove the grinding cup immediately after each use, rinse it out and let it dry before replacing, and guess what....no issues! Wish I had read the book with my first purchase.

good coffee, loud while grinding, excessive clean-up could have been avoided by moving grinder above or away from moisture

If you want a great HOT cup of coffee I would recommend the Grind & Brew Coffee Maker. It grinds the coffee and brews at the same time to make the best coffee I've had at home and it's hot. But.... There is one drawback which may be a deal breaker for some...it does require maintenance.
Which means after every brew the grinder cup should be rinsed out and dried before it's used again because the condensation leaves a sludgy residue in the grinder cup.
Because of this, I contemplated returning the coffeemaker but after a couple of uses and enjoying the great coffee I figured it was an acceptable trade off for me. This coffee maker isn't like a "regular" coffee maker, it grinds your beans fresh! So a little maintenance should be expected and for me wasn't unreasonable.
Cleaning the grinder cup and grinds basket isn't a big deal for me I just rinse it out and wipe it with a paper towel usually in the evening so it will be completely dry in the morning. (You'll want the grinder cup to be completely dry so the beans will be dry when they grind.) Cleaning takes less than 5 minutes.
There is also an option to brew without using the grinder so if you don't want to mess with grinding beans or the clean up afterwards you can use it as a regular coffee maker as well.
One thing I do think would be an improvement is the water level indicator. I'm used to the floating ball thingy on the outside of the other makers. On this one there is no indicator outside the unit so you have to look inside to see the water level markers. If making more than 8 cups it's easy to see the water level but if making less than that you have look all the way down inside the dark unit so the water level is harder to see. I hardly ever make less than 8 cups so it hasn't been an issue for me.
The measurement markings on the glass carafe (4cups, 6 cups,) are there to indicate the brewed coffee level not the water level, so if you use the carafe to measure 8 cups of water, it won't measure 8 cups inside the unit. To compensate I measure 9 cups with the carafe so it measures 8 cups exactly inside the unit. Just a little FYI. I'm not sure if other coffee makers are like this but I noticed it on this one.
So yes, there are some things to consider when purchasing this coffeemaker but the final product - enjoying an excellent cup of coffee may be worth the small inconveniences. Over all I'm very pleased with the coffee maker.
