We actually have the previous model of this Thermal Cuisanart Grind & Brew, which is used daily and is many years old. Never have had a problem. Grinder still going strong, and only the filters have needed to be replaced (every 3 months) which is inexpensive, not really required but makes the coffee taste awesome!! Because of the age of our current machine, we are thinking of purchasing a spare just in case the 15 year old one should die of old age and overuse. This is the one we will buy, and we are optimistic that it will be even better than our current. As for the loud sound of the grinder....well, duh, coffee grinding is a noisy business with any machine or even a mallet if one should wish to hand "grind" the beans. We have recommended this machine to many friends who taste our after-dinner coffee and ask if it was delivered fresh-brewed from Starbucks!! Seriously. It's that good. I don't find cleaning the pot to be burdensome at all. I even (with my very small hands) wipe out the water tank every few days. I wash the pot and removable parts after each use using hot soapy water, rinse and dry with paper towels and use the damp towels to wipe out the areas of the pot that have coffee grinding residue. Easy process and keeps the coffee tasting fresh and wonderful day after day. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would do so.

The thermal carafe collects water in the metal section during its time in the dishwasher. This water dribbles out when you pour a cup of coffee. Fortunately it doesn't drip into your cup of coffee, just on to the counter.

We actually have an earlier model of the thermal grind and brew Cuisanart Coffee Brewer which we have had for several years. We've never had a problem with the coffeemaker, have brewed hundreds of restaurant quality pots of coffee and will replace with a newer version of Cuisanart Grind and Brew Thermal if our current model wears out (and surely it will with the use it gets). I highly recommend this product, and I am puzzled about the reviewer who had the grinder break. For one thing, the part can be replaced for free if under warrenty and for about $15 if out of warranty. Ours hasn't broken, but I looked up the price of replacement of the part when I read the review. The only thing that we've replaced is the water filter, and we replace this about every three months to keep the flavor of the coffee at peak quality. The filters are available at Home Depot.

bought this coffee maker from another source, it brews a fantastic cup of coffee using the grind feature or just good coffee grounds. didn't have it for a year, and it would not brew a full pot of coffee anymore. did the research online to trouble shoot, turns out that a thermostat can go bad, but if you set it for the one to four cup option, it will brew the full pot. has been working doing it that way.

A pleasure when you are retired is having an early morning cup of good coffee over which you can relax, read the morning paper, and plan your day of ease. This Cuisinart provides the coffee. Very satisfying.

If you enjoy spending a very very long time cleaning out all of the parts ( grinder, lid to grinder, basket to put ground coffee in, lid to basket, container that basket sits in, coffee pot, coffee pot lid...) all to make a cup of coffee, than this one is for you! The built in grinder is SUPER loud. My whole family complains. The coffee spills on the burner mid way through? I have to stop the coffee making process, close everything AGAIN, push in the carafe AGAIN and it does it each time. I've had it. Going to Starbucks until I buy another coffee maker. Oh, and it is super tall. Won't fit under a lot of kitchen cupboards.
