Product Overview

CEG-Lite Commercial Epoxy Grout, a lightweight 2-part 100% solids epoxy grout formulated with custom’s exclusive customLite technology. CEG-Lite represents a major breakthrough in epoxy technology, delivering the high stain and chemical resistance professionals expect, combined with handling characteristics and versatility that far surpasses other epoxy grouts. CEG-Lite is formulated with the same recycled content found in custom’s other lightweight setting materials, making it the first 100 percent solids epoxy grout that contributes to Leed certification based on recycled content, which also affects the handling of the product, giving a smoother consistency providing increased spread ability. Epoxy grout is very different from typical portland cement grouts so you may find this to be more sticky and fast drying, clean up should begin very shortly after installation.

Customer Questions & Answers

what is the difference between epoxy grout and sanded and unsanded grout?

Asked by: Anonymous
Epoxy grout has two parts which need to be mixed, and just like epoxy, it hardens quicker if warm and once it starts to harden there is no going back, unlike cementious type grouts for which the working time can be extended by spraying it with a water mist. Epoxy grout does have some type of grit, but I do not know if it is sand or quartz or what.

CEG-Lite #165 Delorean Gray 0.29 gal. 100% Solids Commercial Epoxy Grout is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well in my Bathroom I used this brand on my Laundry room + Kitchen + Bathroom + Tub surround. this color was only used in the Bathroom. I found this product very easy for a new tiler to use, it goes on faster and smoother then the premixed materiel and cleans up with far less wiping. It also does not seem to leave a haze like the premix and self mix grout does. I tended to get about 35 SF per bucket using 12" tiles and thick (1/4" +) grout lines. I got about 45-50 SF using 3/16" grout lines. I did find that the consistency of the color that was a Web only was worse then what I got in store. I think this is due to the age of the items in question, the ones I ordered from online were coated in a thick layer of dust consistent with an older product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Follow the directions The directions say to pour the mixed epoxy onto a flat horizontal surface if you are grouting walls, and It does not say why. So, I wanted to leave the mixed grout in the bucket while I was grouting shower walls and could not see any advantage to pouring it onto a horizontal surface. Well, if you are grouting walls, pour it onto a flat horizontal surface. The usable time to apply increases dramatically by pouring it onto a flat horizontal surface. It also helps if you spread the grout around on the flat surface and it helps even more if that surface stays cool. It turns out that epoxy grout sets off, (hardens), quicker with heat and heat is produced by the chemical reaction of the mixing of part A and part B. Once the grout starts hardening, forget it. Toss it. It just becomes a mess. I also found that if I only mixed up half, (carefully measured halves), I did not get stuck with grout hardening on me while I was still applying. Epoxy grout sponges last much longer than regular grout sponges and don't cost any more. Also, I found that using scotch-brite type abrasive pads with water on my first cleaning pass helped greatly in smoothing and leaving the correct amount of grout in the grout lines. I highly recommend this product, but know that it is more difficult to use and has a decreased working time than regular grout.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We loved this product because we could do it ourselves and it was perfect! We had a bad experience with professionals doing our epoxy grout last summer. We waited a long time; they showed up and did half the job, but never came back. We finally hired someone else who made a mess. The staff at our Home Depot encouraged us to do it ourselves and gave us good advice. The product was great and much less expensive! I would say that it is a two person job with one applying and another cleaning the surfaces.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from blue/gray delorean gray epoxy grout I bought 5 mini-buckets of CEG lite at HD 6 mos ago & just used them up in the bathroom. The color looks GREAT with the blue glass and the cream ceramic tiles. 5 buckets covered the glass mosaics but we didn't have enough for the ceramic. Unfortunately our HD no longer carries it, but fortunately homedepot.com does. As to epoxy grout: this wasn't too bad to install. We did it while about 60 deg F and it was stiff to get on, but took over an hour to set. One bucket a day. Hubby & I each did our own areas & had lots of scrubby sponges from the dish wash department. The best part was the clean up. You have to be sure to remove all epoxy haze, but really there wasn't much anyway. Water just beads up on it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Do it right the first time For grout joints that are practically indestructable, never need sealing, and won't grow mold, stain, or change colors, I highly recommend using this product. It is more difficult than regular grout to install, definitely takes more elbow grease to work and more buckets of water to clean. I have in my bath with the Ferrokar Alumino series of tile and it looks great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great value...excellent look! The Delorean Gray 0.29-gal. Commercial Epoxy Grout is a user friendly product, very easy to mix and apply and the color and finish product is excellent. The most important step is the clean up as you must do so exactly as specified to avoid having the epoxy stick to the tile and make them filmy. The epoxy dries quickly with a very nice shine. We were very satisfied with our purchase.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This is a bad product - avoid at all costs This product is extremely difficult to install. You will try to clean the area outside the grout line forever. I installed tile in a variety of areas. I refuse to use this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worst product This is the hardest epoxy grout to install. I have installed a few, but was pressed for time, and this was all HD had. I followed the directions perfectly, and started the install. It seemed to go fine, just like any other sanded or Epoxy grout. but the product dries way to quick. I was only able to use half of the bucket before it became unusable, then I spent the next 30 minutes rushing as fast as I could to try to clean off the tile, as the grout dried on. So much scrubbing and scraping, it would not release from the face of the tile. it got to the point that we could not remove any of the residue from the tile that we had to use denatured alcohol to clean that up. I wasn't even able to finish 1/4 of the project, and I am returning everything I bought, I will not use this product ever again.
