How much area does 1 gal. cover?

How much area does 1 gal. cover?
Asked by: Deb
It depends on the size of your grout lines and how large your tile is. I recently did a small kitchen floor room in a stacked 12-inch tile arrangement with 1/8 in. grout lines. At that rate, 1 gallon could easily cover 400 square feet if used properly with minimal waste.

You need to have actual 2" x 2" x 1/4" samples at the display....

So here I am going to plunk down 55.00 for a gallon of grout to maybe find out this is not what I want. What the manufacturer needs to do is make grout chips 2" x 2" by 1/4" thick for a few colors to hang by the grout display. I could see the finish and see how flexible it is compared to regular grout which will not flex.
Asked by: jcy110
We have grout channel color kits available at the distributors so you can see what the color looks like. When cured, Fusion Pro is not a flexible grout, it is not as hard as cement but your not going to be able to feel it flex either. Why dont you have this in large caulking tubes for doing large tiles?

If this grout came in the large caulking tubes one can force it into the space with pressure from the gun so that there is minimal cleanup on large tiles. I may even try cleaning a caulking tube and try it.
Asked by: jcy110
Generally, the effect of what you are describing is achieved, when necessary, by a grout bag. Here's a link to one sold here on homedepot.com: http://www.homedepot.com/p/Marshalltown-Blu-Tip-12-in-x-24-in-Grout-Bag-GB690-HD/100318167

re-apply Fusion Pro after 2 days?

I applied Fusion Pro 2 days ago on marble mosaic tile. The grout sank into the seems (below the tile surface) and some pinholes and minor cracks appeared. Can I re-apply Fusion pro to level the grout so it's flush with the tile and so that the pinholes and minor cracks disappear? It's a brand new shower, never been used before.
Asked by: GeorgiafromNY
Re-Grouting with the Fusion Pro Single Component Grout would require removing approximately 2/3 the depth of the existing grout. For further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786 option 2

What size grout joints can this be used on? Is it sanded or non?

Asked by: Snuffy
Straight from the bucket: For grout joints from 1/16 inch to 1/2 inch (1.6 mm to 13 mm). It is a sanded grout, ready to use (no mixing/stirring).

Fusion Pro #185 New Taupe 1 Gal. Single Component Grout is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 350.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK, I see why people either LOVE it or HATE it! OK, I see why most people either love it or hate it! It does make a beautiful seam when finished, but it's not for the average DIY'er. This is a most unusual product, unlike any I've ever worked with. I'm no pro, but I know you cannot apply it like standard cementitious grout because you have nowhere near as much time to work it before it starts to dry. I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that this stuff starts setting up as soon as you pass your float across it! The very fine grit and film that is left behind will dry in like 1-2 minutes AND STICKS to the surface of the tile. (It MIGHT not be as rapid if working in high humidity, but I was in 50% or less) If you float too long/go too far without wiping it off, you will have a fight to get it off. I was laying 6x24 ceramic tile on tub surround walls and could only grout about 36"(1 long edge + 2 shorts) before I had to stop and wipe off. I used the sponge from HD that has the fabric on one side and recommend that one highly because you WILL have to scrub to loosen the grit at times when wiping down and the sponge side alone is not enough! (THAT gives you an idea how firm it sticks!) Well that felt like it was taking FOREVER, so I decided to try applying it with a homemade (Ziploc Qt/Freezer) grout bag. (I had noticed that when the stuff is not spread out thin it dries slower) That worked pretty well with my 1/8" lines that were not too deep. I filled about 36" at a time, with a bead that overfilled about 1/8" above the tile surface. I then came back with a damp 3" putty knife and packed it down flat, 3" at a time, from the side, to ensure fill. Then I scraped along the length to remove most of any excess, which I used on any low spots or tacked on the end where I had stopped the bead. Of course I STILL had to wipe across the seams to remove the residual, but it was a lot less work, mess and waste than the standard float method as none had dried on the tile face... I bought this because of the allure of not having to seal the grout. But compared to the difficulty I had in applying this stuff, sealing standard grout doesn't seem so bad. I have another one for the floor that I'm gonna return. But after reading this, some may decide they would not have a problem with it. I've never tried epoxy grout, but I can't imagine it being easier. Hope this helps.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Avoid this product for large jobs! Stick with dry mix! Bought this grout for a 16'x16' room and read and followed the instructions. After a few 24"x24" areas I was through with this stuff. It sets/glazes in about 1 to 2 minutes and is a SOB to get off. It freezes to the tiles so well you wear yourself out trying to clean it up. I was using it on Montagna Wood Weathered Gray 6x24 tiles and this grout was all in the textured surface. It was a real headache. It stained the tiles darker and so far I cannot get it off. In the morning all of the buckets of Fusion Pro are heading back to the store and I will use the dry mix grout. For 1 or 2 tiles this may work but for lighter colored tile I would be wary. Imagine latex paint, sand and Elmer's Glue mixed together and you have a bucket of Fusion Pro...

After one year exactly, mold is now forming in the grout on my shower floor. I spent a small fortune completely installing a new shower and requested only the "best" grout product that would deter mold. I was assured, by Home Depot, this product would work. This shower is used only twice a week and wiped down completely after each use and door left open for full circulation to dry out. I am very upset and angry. NOTHING is removing the mold!!!! WOULD NOT recommend this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible; Buy this if you want to waste a weekend scraping it back out This is an expensive grout option, but it was supposed to be better. It's not. After 7 days of drying, it washed down the drain on the first shower. We did it again, except put a heater in the shower to keep the area warm. It washed out again. This stuff is difficult to apply and makes a huge mess. It is expensive and doesn't work. It only sticks to clothing and the top of tiles. Terrible product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible product I wish I had read reviews last November when I bought this stuff. We remodeled our master bath and used this grout in the shower and on the floor. I noticed that the grout in the shower was starting to come out last month. It has crumbled and now I am having to dig out all of the grout and use a different product. Save yourself the headache of having to replace this junk and use something else, otherwise you'll be redoing your hard work in 9 months. I hope that Home Depot removes this product from shelves because it isn't up to the standards that they generally have.

I don't know about the ones having issues with showers, probably not the best choice and go with epoxy or mix a polymer in with cement grout for showers. But all the other negative posts about how difficult it is. Please you never used true epoxy grout have you. Just keep doing small areas and you won't have any trouble, I'm grouting 18" tiles and I will do a pattern of about 6 wipe those down and just keep moving. Just dont take any breaks after you put the grout down and before wiping with a sponge. Just use a grout sponge with the cloth on one side and use it first. Actually its very simple because there is no mixing and if you ever used epoxy grout well once you mix you are done 5 minutes later and throw away the rest of what you mixed.
