Answer:
The ratio is one part water to five parts mortar mix, by volume. First put the water in the pail and add about 1/3 of the measured mortar, Mix that first as a thinner mix, then gradually blend in the remaining mortar. It will get somewhat thick, which is what you want. It will become a little difficult to mix, but a 2" knife will do it (do not need an electric drill and stirrer - it wastes so much Read More

It just takes a strong hand and a deliberate mixing stroke, turning over the mix frequently. Read Less

Answer:
Since you only need a small amount mix small amounts apply and mix more if needed. Don't get caught up in doing the math to figure out how much to mix.
Start with a cup or two of mortar, mix with mater until you get a peanut butter like consistency (you don't have to be real precise.) apply the mortar and mix more if needed.

Answer:
Yes this will work. Make sure you have a waterproofing mesh at corners and joints. Also Tec Skill Set suggests to apply at least two coats of the membrane (25 mm thick). Most waterproofing membranes will cure in 24 hrs, so check the directions for proper cure times.

Answer:
DO NOT USE MASTIC ON GLASS TILE! If you use mastic on glass tile, your tile will come loose and fall off in a short time. Use this glass tile thin set. I have repaired glass tile where mastic was used for original install. I used this product and has stood up great.

Once this chemical reaction happens, the cement is chemically stable and unaffected by water. This is the same reason why contractors can pour bridge pilings from concrete and they are most certainly submerged all the time. To be 100% certain, I suggest you call the helpline on the Glass Tile box. I have found the folks at Custom Building Products to be super helpful and they will tell you exactly what to do. Follow what they say to the letter. The last thing I would do is add another product, like the Admix, which modifies the chemistry of the Glass Tile product. In doing so, you might render the Glass Tile mortar to be less resistant to water. It all depends upon the chemistry of the mortar mix and Custom Building Products knows that better than anyone else. Good luck with this! Call the help line... Read Less

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works great Easy to use on 3x6" glass wall tile. When installing smaller tiles like I did, use a spray bottle to keep your batch of mortar from crusting over in the bucket while you tile, and stir it each time you reload the trowel. September 6, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed. Stiff and hard to work with In spite of the other reviews, I don't find this as nearly as good as the material I used when I ran out of this stuff! I had 16 square feet of 6" hadn-made glass tiles to lay down for a wall hanging, and started with the Custom product from HD. I ran out (though the box siad I shoudl have had enough) and since the store didn't have any more I had to switch to a product carried at another big box store across the street. Wish I'd purchased that other product first. The Custom material from HD seemed much more gritty, stiffer, and not as easily applied to tiles, harder to spread. Followed the directions to the letter, but stiffer and harder to work with in general. This was surprising because the HD stuff actually used more water per pound than the second product I used (TEC brand). The TEC was much smooth., more compliant, adn seemed to adhere better to the tiles. My next project won't doen with the Custom brand material from HD. I'll stick with the TEC product. Cheaper too. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grout Don't follow instructions on this one 20 minutes is to long to wait to wipe off the tiles. It's best to do a 2 ft section then wipe the grout off. April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Glass Tile 7 LB. White Premium Thuin-Set Motar This is the first time I have had the opportunity to use this product. I read all the reviews and decided to give it a shot. Installed glass backsplash in my kitchen. This product was very easy to work with. I am not a professional installer. As result, I work a bit slower than a professional. I found this product didn't set up as fast as I have used other motor. It allowed me to work at my own pace without the mortar solidifying. This was very helpful and not wasteful. I strongly recommend this product. You will be very happy. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use, did the job This mortar is for applications with transparent or translucent materials where the color behind the materials is important. It is easy to use and does the job. Be sure to read safe installation instructions. February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works! I love this product. It really brought out the color of my glass tiles and made it more brilliant. I was hesitant if it would do what it promised but I took a chance from what I read of the reviews. Glad I did. No regrets. January 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good deal I had a small tile job, my first one at that. I needed a white quick set, but could only find it in 25 & 50 lb bags. This was the perfect size and was easy to apply. December 29, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Use Money Well Sent We installed paper faced translucent glass tile that was costly and I didn't want to ruin the effect by using the wrong type of thin-set This thin-set was perfect! Easy to use and worth every penny!! December 15, 2015
