Depending on the size and thickness of the stone you may need a medium bed mortar. I would recommend calling the technical service department at 800 272-8786 to ensure your using tha correct product.

Is this to be used in between bricks?

I have a small hole on the outside of my house where an old wall fan was. I want to fill it with bricks and mortar it. I found an article on Wiki that states that I should use a white mortar mix. The one they show is made by TXI. Is this the same product just manufactured by another company? Any answer is appreciated. Thank you!
Asked by: Lezlie123
I'm not sure what product you are referring to by TXI. Bricks are typically mortared with a gray portland cement and sand mix. Our thin sets are designed for setting tile and stone.

Can this be used to 'patch' an inground pool where pieces of plaster have broken off?

I was looking to use EZ Patch which is specifically used for pool repairs, but have read in the reviews that it doesn't work very well. Someone mentioned using white concrete mix from H. Depot; I went to the H. Depot website & this is what I found.
Asked by: Eval
No, the MultiSet Thin Set Mortar is just a setting material for tile. For a pool application where the material will be constantly submerged i would recommend using a patching material specifically for that purpose.

MultiSet White 50 lb. Modified Thin-Set Mortar is rated 1.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product won' even stick to itself! crumbles like dirt. This thin set is junk period, thank god I tested it on a scrap piece of cement backer and tile. mixed thin, thick or spot on per bag directions after 2 days on test material you can pop tiles off with screwdriver and that's with 90 to 100 percent coverage! never in my life have I seen a worse product. again when dry you can crumble it in your hands and scrape it off with your fingernail.
