I had a contractor install ceramic wood-like tiles. I bought this grout for 1/16th lines. Unfortunately this grout came out lighter, almost white in majority of the places. Very few places have the true color. Why did this happen and how can I fix it?

Answer:
Color variations can occur in any Portland-Cement product including grout. Efflorescence (whitish powder) can also occur. Typically, a sulfamic-acid cleaning will alleviate this discoloration. For further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786 option 2

Noticed this right away but let it dry completely and it is still gray and it has been a month. I am going to request that he remove the grout and reapply but worried it will turn out the same.

I am grouting a 5 foot x 5 foot area of 4 in x 4 in tiles on bathroom wall. Only the 10 pound size was available so I got it, but it's way too much product to mix up for this little bit of grout work. Figured I'd use what I need now, and save remainder for future.

Answer:
The approximate mixing ratio is 3 parts Polyblend Non-Sanded Grout to 1 part cool clean water. The consistency should be "Peanut-Butter" like. For further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786 option 2

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 330 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Color true to label, minimal cracking I used this on mosaic wall tile with spacing ranging from 1/16 to 1/8 inch. It works great in the 1/16 spaces, but I noticed some shrinkage and cracking in some of the spaces that were exactly 1/8 inch. The non-sanded grout is more difficult to sponge off compared to sanded so it is more time consuming to use. Polyblend is my preferred brand for grout due to the color consistency of the label with the final result. Polyblend sanded is my preference when tile spacing allows, non-sanded worked almost as well in my application with smaller spacing. April 9, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to mix and apply, color matches sample strip. The grout was easy to mix and apply, dried to the color indicated on the sample strip on the box. Looks great! No complaints about this product. December 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Thoroughly Disgusted I urge the reader not to buy this product. When I used it, it dried to almost completely white instead of the greenish grey that it was supposed to be. It is unevenly colored in other spots. It completely ruined the backsplash that I installed, and I have no other choice but live with it, unless I tear it all out and start again. I am thoroughly displeased. Again, I urge you not to buy this product if you want the color on the box. March 9, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't trust the color on the box!!!!! Quartz is beige. I spent a lot of time, effort and money in tiling my bathroom backsplash, only to be seriously disappointed by the color of the grout. I brought the actual tile (Architectural Grey) into the store to find the perfect color of grout. The Quartz (101) matched almost perfectly. It was grey, like my tile. Maybe it was the fault of the fluorescent lighting in the store, but once applied, the grout does not match my tile. It just looks beige. I hate it. The company ought to fix this obvious color depiction problem AND the sales people at Home Depot need to warn everybody of the problem and help them find the true color they are looking for. I also had to buy a huge 10 box for my 4 foot backsplash project. Not happy! March 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Poly blend non-sanded grout I used this product on glass tile mats. The grout gap varied between 1/16th to 1/8th. It went on with no issues and clean up was easier than I expected. Overall, I am very pleased with this product. July 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Required Used many times at other tile installations, hurrah. January 12, 2016
