How do you fix grout that turned white once dried?

This question is from Polyblend #122 Linen 25 lb. Sanded Grout

I bought a bag of Polyblend Sanded Grout in Summer Wheat and after I applied the grout to the floor it dried almost a white. Is there anyway to get it back to the color it is suppose to be? It is almost like it has a haze on the grout. Any ideas what I might have done wrong?

Hmm... brush off some grout from the top and grout again with more dark grout? Or just take some aquarelle paint and use over it and seal after?

Hello TileGroutProblems and thank you for your question.
The white that you see is a crystalline deposit called efflorescence. This occurs with any Portland cement based product, including grout. It can be removed depending upon your tile:
* Some natural or sensitive stones such as marble, limestone or travertine are sensitive to acids and you should remove the white haze with Aquamix Nano Scrub.

Answer:
There should be a color sticker on the label that says the name of the grout color in the bag. If by some chance the sticker has bee n removed, we would unfortunately have no way of knowing what the color is unless there is an item code on the bag starting with PBG, the number following the PBG would tell us what the color is. If you have that number please give our technical service department a call at Read More

Answer:
No, for joints that small you should be using non sanded grout. The sanded grout is too coarse to fit in that small of a joint.

Incorrect question, but - if you want it shiny, you cover it with SEALER after grout get dry.
Id you want it waterproof - use sealer or add additive Add-mix to the grout mix.

There is not a sheen with this product. It is supposed to be a poly blend to keep it from cracking, but it still cracks. Perhaps some sort of latex would help.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Grout! I had to go to several stores before finding the color of grout I was needing to finish my kitchen backsplash and with help from the knowledgiible staff I found it! thanks so much Home Depot!!! June 29, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst grout I've ever used I have been doing tile work for 18 years and this has to be the worst product I've ever worked with. I used this brand of grout in 2 tub surrounds on a job last year. The fist shower I noticed right away that the material set up faster than I am used to and cleaned off my tools very easily. The next day the grout was dry and the color varied from joint to joint. Additionally there seam to be cracking right away. I followed the mixing instructions as stated on package and used distilled water in the mix. I knew right away I would be re-grouting the surround. I knew I needed to do something different with the second bath so I used sealer instead of water hoping to get a better product. The result was stronger grout but I still ended up with color variations. And a year later hair line cracks in the grout. You may be thinking that maybe this guy applied the product incorrectly. But I assure you that this is the first time I ever used polyblend band grout and this is also the first time I have ever had a costumer call me with concerns on a tile job. I will never use it again and will inform everyone I know to stay away from this product. August 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by grout was easy to work with doing a mosaic counter top. It was easy to work with and the job looks great July 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Grout Grout compliments the tile we purchased at Home Depot. No problems March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very easy to use. Great product, the value compared to the pre mixed version is much better. July 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Exactly as advertised Saw the reviews that said it dried lighter than advertised so we bought a darker color than we planned. Brown Sable. It dried exactly as on the bag. The color of a Hershey chocolate bar. Looks great with the 6X24 wood look tiles. Wouldn't have had the nerve to plan to go with such dark grout, so it was a happy accident. It was easy to use and cleaned up easy. My husband smeared in the grout and I went behind with the cleanup sponge. We've never done this before and were shocked how fast it went. And we are old and slow! (both 60 yrs old) I wish we would've known about the sealer you mix in with the grout powder. So now we move on to Sealer.... Need to check out YouTube for the how to..... Gotta love the internet. September 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Quality Excellent product. EASY TO USE. The product mixed really well and the application of product was smooth. March 22, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Uneven color After the grout dry, looks dark and some places, and light color in other tiles, Now i need removed all the grout and regrouting with another grout brand March 22, 2016
