Answer:
You can use a toothbrush to apply the Grout Renew. Apply a little dab onto the grout joint and spread evenly, working the Grout Renew into the joint using a back and forth motion. Thin even coats should be applied, limiting the amount of Grout Renew that gets on the tile. Wipe off any excess off the tiles as you go.

My handyman put very dark brown grout on one portion at the back of my kitchen sink. I wanted it to be sandstone, like the rest of the counter grout, but he was trying to make sure that there were no leaks in that area, so he treated that area differently. The grout is newly put in and sealed. Can I cover the dark grout area with a lighter color with this product?

Yes. I used Sandstone over black and it covered perfectly in one application. Just be sure to clean it really well first.

How stain resistant is this product if used on a kitchen floor? We are looking to stay with a light grout, but want it to hold up and not turn dingy.

Answer:
Grout Renew is an acrylic urethane stain and sealer for renewing or changing the color of cement grout. It will ease maintenance but will not make the grout stain proof. The grout gets dirty due to normal use, but because of the sealer, it will be easier to clean and restore the original color grout. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Okay colorant. We used this to darken our grout after it was installed because the grout was not the color it was supposed to be. It does an okay job. Installation is a pain but take your time and you will be okay. Not sure how well it will hold up because you are basically painting your grout. April 26, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked great! Really fixed up my ugly stained grout. It looks like new. A little messy to use but well worth the effort. June 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to use, amazing results. I have hated the grout in my home since moving in. I decided to try the grout renew and what a complete transformation. The application was easy and the transformation was incredible. It looks like a new floor, even the tile looks new. I highly recommend it and I am sure I will use it again. February 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Mapei Grout Refresh is superior product This product does work but the labor involved was far more rigorous than the Mapei Grout Refresh product. I bought the Mapei at Lowes first but the color was too light and Lowes didn't have anything darker. So I bought the Polyblend grout renew from Home depot since they had the color I wanted (Sandstone) in stock. In hindsight, I wish I waited the week to order a similar color in the Mapei product. The Mapei product is so simple to use. You just use a tooth brush and rub the cream into the grout lines, wait 30 to 60 minutes and then mist the floor with a water spray bottle and wipe off the excess grout paint from the tile simply and efficiently while the grout lines remain the painted color. The Polyblend product states right in the directions not to let the cream dry on the tile, so I was a little stressed about getting excess cream on the tile while I was applying it to the grout. Because you can't let it dry, I was cleaning as I was going and it seemed like I was constantly wiping off the cream I had just applied. Inevitably I ended up getting excess on the tile and it took me three thorough scrubbings to get it all off the tile. So frustrating. I'll never use this product again. I'm actually going back to the Mapei product of a similar color and doing another round of application so I don't have to do the second coat with this frustrating product. November 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect color This is a great product and easy to use. The color perfectly matches our "old" grout. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Our shower looks brand new! Not only does this dye your grout but it even seals it as well! Just follow directions and wait the 72 hours before using. Our 30 year old shower looks brand new! This kept us from having to replace it. The dye comes in several colors so you are sure to find one you like. Also, this was the only store we found that carried this product! We love it! April 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, great idea! Very happy with this product. Easy to apply-work in small sections and wipe off excess product that gets on the tile, and it comes out beautifully. We used the Sandstone color to paint over white grout and it turned out very nice. May 28, 2015
