I had a contractor install ceramic wood-like tiles. I bought this grout for 1/16th lines. Unfortunately this grout came out lighter, almost white in majority of the places. Very few places have the true color. Why did this happen and how can I fix it?

Answer:
Color variations can occur in any Portland-Cement product including grout. Efflorescence (whitish powder) can also occur. Typically, a sulfamic-acid cleaning will alleviate this discoloration. For further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786 option 2

Noticed this right away but let it dry completely and it is still gray and it has been a month. I am going to request that he remove the grout and reapply but worried it will turn out the same.

Rated 3.8 out of 5 by 357 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Don't purchase Harder to work with vs a Mapei product. Blotchy and with porcelain tile can be too time consuming. Returning unused portion for a refund March 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Just what we wanted for our backsplash tiles We had to order this color New Taupe un-sanded online as it was not available in the store. We used it on a narrow glass mosaic tile and wanted to tone down the green glass within the pattern it does not appear dark at all, more a medium shade. We also used a spray on grout sealer after about 3 days. It looks great. We had a contractor install our backsplash. March 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great grout color - very modern The dark grout is very en-trend right now. I used this grout with subway tile i also purchased from Home Depot. I could not be happier with the way it looks. Plus, the non-sanded prevented any scratching on the ceramic tiles. September 3, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product My wife and I love this. It worked out great. We are extremely pleased. March 11, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by color consistency after 5 days of install is Terrible!!! I bought this product from Home Depot and used a professional tile installer. After 5 days the grout color was inconsistent. I called the installer and he looked at it and said this is definitely the grout problem and requested me to get in touch with the product manufacturer!!! Is there somebody I contact to discuss my problem? October 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great if you follow instructions! This is for platinum color, used with marble basketweave mosaic on a bathroom floor, the tile had 2 applications of grout & tile sealer before grouting. I used about 1.5 boxes for 50 square feet. The mix rate is 3 PINTS (NOT parts) per 10lb bag. After applying the grout, use the driest possible damp sponge to remove the excess. Keep in mind you are not washing away the excess, but rather rubbing it off with the sponge. Using excess water at this stage waterlogs the grout and causes the efflorescence that many reviewers commented on, making the final appearance much lighter. You must keep rinsing and wringing out ALL the water from the sponge. I am giving this 4 stars because both boxes had some bits of red pigment that kept smearing while I was spreading, and I had to go back and rub it out. August 25, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Polyblend Non-Sanded Grout I like this product, looks nice and easy to use... just mix with water September 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Patience is a virtue Takes a long time to dry to the final color. Mix well before applying. On a backsplash grout about 4' then gently with a barely damp sponge wipe it down in a swirling motion. Do another 4', repeat/etc. Rinse the sponge often. Buff it down but don't get in a hurry to do this. Wait until next day to see any pin holes/thin areas needing to be touched up. Dampen those areas before applying more grout. As it dries it changes color. Don't mix too much grout at first until you see how far it goes and how fast you can finish a section. The grout will get hard in your tray and why throw good grout away? October 4, 2016
