Answer:
Hi JD, yes you can apply 2 coats if you feel you need it. You won't hurt or change the surface by applying two coats. I obtained this information from the technical folks at Custom Building Products.

Hi there Johnny,
Grout Renew actually seals while it colors, so it contains a sealant already in it. If your tile is not glazed, then it will need to be sealed prior to using Grout Renew. Please see the attached sealer and allow it to fully cure before using this product.

Rated 4.6 out of 5 by 16 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product This Grout Renew Colorant product is wonderful. After the prep work is done for this process, the results are amazing. The grout colorant is a little time consuming to put on but the results look so nice. Looks like when you first had the tile installed. July 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product but dries fast!! Keep your area small Product did a great job of covering old grout and replacing areas that had "washed away". But don't make the mistake I did and try to cover too large of an area at once, at least not if you are a DIYer. It dried faster than I expected and I made a lot of additional work for myself. Keep it small!! April 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brightened the old grout to look like new We replaced some of the grout and it was a different color so we used the product on the old grout to make it match the replaced grout. It all now looks bright and like new. July 21, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by We put a tile floor down and the grout I chose turned out to be way too light. After coming to the conclusion that I would just have to live with this, my husband went to Home Depot to ask if there was anything we could do other than take all the grout out. The salesman recommended this product. Wow, what a great product. It was time consuming painting each tile line with an artist brush but when I was done the grout was the color I wanted and you cannot tell that I painted the grout lines on. And this product also seals the grout line. I would highly recommend this product especially if you made a mistake with the grout color. July 1, 2010
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 70 yard old great grandma loves this stuff!! I did my kitchen and my dining room myself, and it looks amazing. I have beige tiles and the grout had never been sealed. It was so dirty and soooo hard to scrub. Antique white looks fabulous. I feel like I have new floors. Oh yes, I am 70, but have had a few fixer uppers in my life and know how to do a few DIY's. And 54 colors!!! Thanks polyblend. April 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing!!! A friend of mine recommended this and I was so tired of my gross looking grout in my kitchen I decided to try it.,, My kitchen floor looks brand new!! it takes alot of time on your hands and knees to do it but its worth it,, Liked it so much that I also did my master bath and guest bath... What made it sooo much easier was I bought a little bottle there with a sponge tip applicator.. made all the difference in the world,, February 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best product EVER! I AM A VERY PARTICULAR DIY KIND OF PERSON. I USED THIS PRODUCT WHEN THE GROUT FROM ANOTHER HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE GROUT WAS NOT TRUE TO THE EXAMPLE. I WANTED IT SLIGHTLY DARKER SO I GOT THIS SEALER AND WAS I IMPRESSED! I POURED IT IN A PLASTIC BOTTLE WITH A POINTED LID (LIKE HONEY COMES IN) AND TRIMMED DOWN AN OLD TOOTHBRUSH. I SLOWLY SQUEEZED THE SEALER OUT OF THE BOTTLE AND WENT OVER IT WITH THE NARROW-DOWNED TOOTHBRUSH. I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT COLOR CHOICES AND THEY ARE TRUE TO THEIR EXAMPLE. ON ANOTHER FLOOR I TILED, I DECIDED TO USE THE HOME DEPOT GROUT AND FOUND I GOT THE EXACT COLOR AS THE EXAMPLE SHOWS. I STILL SEALED IT IN THE SAME COLOR FOR EXTRA PROTECTION. GREAT PRODUCT! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing product! Well worth the effort. Wow, this truly IS a remarkable product. We re-tiled bathroom, first time. Figured grouting was the easier part of the remodel. In our efforts to be "perfect." we wiped too soon and with too much water in the sponge. The result was grout that had inconsistent color. :( We made ready to attack that grout and remove it by any means necessary! Procrastinated for 2 weeks. Ugh! Researched again online and found this. It felt like the page with this product was literally glowing sunbeams we were so happy to find a hopeful solution. AND it WORKS!!! Ez, pz . Small toothbrush, wipe edges along tile with paper towel before it dries. Seals and colors in one step. Love it, love it, love it. The grout is now smoother, looks very similar to an epoxy grout (which we used in the kitchen). I highly recommend this. :) August 31, 2014
