Asked by: pink
Yes, this can be used inside the shower. In fact, I used it to seal around a new shower enclosure.

I've done my whole kitchen backsplash area using the Snow While #11 grout. I'm following it up with this #11 Snow White caulk. Problem seems to be that the caulk never dries (at least in the 48 hours minimum I'm giving it). I go to trim the caulk, and it does not adhere well to the tile edges, and comes out of the crevasse between tiles like a tube, and is liquid and creamy inside, getting all over my fingers (see photo). Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Asked by: KenH
Ken your observation is correct-- the product does dry, but remains permanently malleable. I assume that this is by design as it remains "flexible" for the seasonal expansions & contractions of two tile-surfaces that meet at a 90 degree corner. That is probably the other reason why these grout-caulks need to be used sparingly only in tub-lines and tile corners. I did apply a very thin "top-coat" of mold-resistant clear caulk over the grout-caulk on the shower niche as added protection. (I did that about 4 days later.) That dries as a standard silicone which stabilizes the softness of the grout-caulk. As for application method-- I taped off each side of the grout-caulk line just like any other silicone caulk application. If you are filing a deep crevice I think that multiple thin coats are a better way to go-- especially with the non-sanded product. You can also use a mold-resistant base caulk to fill in a crevice and then only use the grout-caulk as the final coat as it were. I had one spot in the corner for about 12 inches where I did that-- but only because I was being cheap-old-man and did not want to waste the grout-caulk.

I have the color #145 light smoke in grout but color #145 light smoke is not available in non sanded in the caulk. Is the sanded appropriate for glass tiles?
Asked by: Karen123
Polyblend Sanded Ceramic Tile Caulk is suitable to be used with glass tile. The grout joint dimension and scratch sensitivity of the glass tile will determine whether or not the Polyblend Sanded Grout is suitable to be used on your project. Don't know about Haystack, but the non sanded powder grout and tube match exactly. If it's offered, it will match.

Polyblend #381 Bright White 10.5 oz. Non-Sanded Ceramic Tile Caulk is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 116.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from colors dont match I used the snow white grout and came out exactly as expected. I bought this caulk in snow white and it is much more yellow than the actual grout color. Warning if you use snow white grout use the bright white caulk. Youll get a closer color match.

Pleasantly surprised by this caulking and its "sanded" counterpart, which I used during some recent shower surround recaulking. I was impressed by how smoothly it went on, and the amount of time that it remained workable without taking a set. This let me contour the caulking easily, then go back and pull up the masking tape that I had put down as guide lines without pulling up or smearing the caulking. I liked the product so much that I printed the info and stuck it in our "house file" so we'd know what to use the NEXT time we have to do this kind of project. Face it, recaulking is hardly ever fun, so it pays to have a product that makes it easier! Hope this helps you!

Both have very accurate color-match for the same color grout. As with any caulking, and this certainly, using blue-tape on both sides of the caulk line will make for a better result with limited (if any) cleanup. This caulk also stays malleable (for longer than I expected) which gives you the ability to use a straight edge to make minor corrections after pulling the tape. It eventually dries almost as hard as grout. In a niche, I did apply a very thin antimicrobial clear silicone over this caulk merely as a precaution.

As one reviewer pointed out, there may be some shrinkage with this caulk and he is correct. To me, however, this is not a major negative and the product is behaving in exactly the manner it should behave. Yes, a second application may be necessary for some joints. Fill joints with backer rod to minimize shrinkage. My shrinkage problems usually occurred where the joint was too small for a backer rod. The "Linen" caulk was an exact match to the "Linen" non-sanded grout. The photos I have attached do not really show how close the two products match. This is mainly due to the shiny reflection from my camera flash. The caulk appears to be bonding well even to the tub. It also appears to be quite strong when cured.

It is a nice product, but it does sink. All of the caulking that I have used (Bright White, Linen, and Snow White) has sunk into the space that was 1/8 inches or less. I end up having to apply another layer of this caulking to fix the sinking. Also, I have used two tubes of the Snow White and the caulking would continually ooze out of the tube tip. Even when I pull the bar back, it just kept oozing. The other colors that I have used of the same brand did not do that. This product does state that it is not recommended to use in an area with constant water exposure. It is not a caulking that you would want to use in a shower or tub. I'm ok with the product. It is easy to use and does the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super fast dry! The product did the job! It was easy to apply and even though I took proper care, I had to clean some small areas after applying it. Since the product is water based I just used a wet small and clean sponge. To clean it, my recommendation is not to wait too much after the application, between 8 - 10 mins it will start drying very fast. I'm very pleased with the results.

See the pic (excuse poor grout job). The white line on the right and left is grout, the dirty orange in the middle - caulk. I'm sure picture is worth 1000 words in this case.

Product worked well in sealing a new shower enclosure and was able to match the color exactly to the non sanded grout used in the floor. Together, both products worked extremely well. I like the ability to apply with a caulking gun.
