Not for a shower and if you need to waterproof any walls other than in the shower, you may have bigger issues.

Answer:
If this is being used in a tub surround or shower area, I would recommend using cement backer board and then apply this product. That's what I did before installing wall tiles .

Answer:
Yes, but plan to throw away roller covers and brushes you use. That is why chip brushes are best to use with Redgard. Brushing also lays down a thicker coat than rolling.

Answer:
No. Vinyl peel and stick tiles do not require underlayment like laminate flooring does.

Answer:
We do not recommend that you bond peel & stick tile directly to RedGard. We would recommend that you skim coat the RedGard with a cement based product like SpeedFinish prior to bonding your peel & stick tile. For further information please contact our technical service department at 800 272-8786 option 2.

Hello Dan,
Red Guard can be used on Exterior Plywood and OSB (interior, dry areas only). If you are installing backer board, you would apply a thin mortar, then the backer board. After that you could apply the Red Guard on the backer board.

Answer:
Applying a coat of RedGard Waterproofing and Crack Prevention Membrane prior to installing cement backer board would not be beneficial, as the backer board fasteners would puncture the membrane. For further assistance please contact our installation division at 800.272.8786 option 2

Rated 4.7 out of 5 by 39 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Phenomenal Product I absolutely love this product! It is a bit messy to handle at first but once you get the hang of it its great. I applied first coat on the corners and put 6 inch fiber glass tape (ordered online) on it. Then I applied another coat making sure the tape sticks. I also applied this product to the curb n wrapped it with the fiber glass tape. I even applied redgard to the better bench I installed in the shower. I applied 3 coats of redgard to the walls and floor and 4 coats on the corners. April 26, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Water Proof This product was easy to apply and dries fast. Made it easy to apply two coats om n the same day. October 12, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great stuff Easy to use, dries fast. Used as anti fracture prep for tile floor September 21, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seems to do it's job well. Redgard is a little cosly but it goes on well and creates a solid waterproofing layer. My house came with a shower filled with black mold from the thinset mortar leaking for years whenever the shower sprayed on the walls. Redoing the bathroom was my first project and I'm quite happy picking this as my waterproofing layer. I will note there are a couple spots that after drying didn't seal well and needed to be picked off and redone. The bright red color makes it easy to find anywhere that wasn't covered well. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by REDGARD Excellent product that gives You peace of mind. Product has multiple uses . September 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works as advertised I used this product to waterproof a concrete floor prior to gluing 3/4 oak flooring down. This product was easy to apply with a roller, dried quickly, and filled in some of the smaller cracks in the concrete. Adhesive seemed to apply well on top of it. Good product. July 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to Use! After lots of research we decided to use Redgard over Wonderboard cement board for the very large shower we built. It was easy to use, just like painting. I wore a respirator during application and made sure the room was well ventilated to keep the smell out of the rest of the home. After it dries the smell disappears. I did three coats for enough coverage to waterproof the shower walls and ceiling. I used this along with a traditional shower bed with CPE liner (with radiant heating wire). Modified thinset (Versabond rocks!) had no problem sticking to the Redgard, even using large 12x24" tiles on part of the wall. I will definitely be using Redgard for all future shower projects. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Saved a tile job gone bad. I had never heard of this product, but learned about it in order to salvage a bad shower tile installation job that was stopped before it got worse. It goes on easily and creates a totally water proof barrier behind your tile. No more finding out two years from now that the installer screwed up and now you have major problems because of leaks in your shower. The only thing I would add to their instructions is to ignore using a trowel. The stuff is too thin. Just use a big paint brush and slosh it on in the corners and over the mesh tape along the seams. Then use a roller to do the flat surfaces. July 16, 2014
