Customer Questions & Answers

Sanded or not, and does it need sealing

I didn't see anything on the container about this grout being sanded, but the specs here on the home depot page say it is sanded. I'm curious as generally, sanded is for 1/8" and greater, yet this says it can be used for 1/16" to 1/2". So, 1st question is it sanded, and if so then why is it OK to use on 1/16", which is the gap between my shower tiles. 2nd question does it need to be sealed? I've already purchased this (it was recommended by the Home Depot advisor in store) and was ready to grout tomorrow and while waiting read about it being sanded.

SimpleGrout is sanded but the "aggregate" in it is small enough that you can use it in small grout lines (as little as 1/16"). No you do not need to seal it.

Does this grout require a sealant coat?

Asked by: Anonymous
This does not require a sealer. However, all grout will look better longer if you use a sealer. Just make sure it is fully cured before you seal it.

is this product mold resistant, and is it ok to use on the shower walls ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Not for shower walks. This is sanded grout. You'll need to mix dry non sanded grout for walls in shower.

Is this grout sanded or unsanded?

It doesn't specify on the container or in the description of the product whether it's sanded or unsanded. I understand sanded grout will scratch glass tiles such as a backsplash and I am looking for unsanded grout for that reason.
Asked by: DDAWG
This grout is sanded and thick. It is very difficult to work with and leaves a gritty haze.
