$19.97 /each

Frequently Bought Together

Product Overview

StainBlocker for Grout is a sealing and performance enhancing additive to be used when mixing grout and water. Unlike traditional sealers which are applied to grout after it has dried for 2-3 days, StainBlocker for Grout is added directly to the grout mix during installation, to immediately repel dirt and make clean-up easier after the grout is dry. StainBlocker for Grout will not affect grout color.

  • Use with 25 lb. polyblend grout
  • Add when mixing grout and water
  • Immediately resists dirt, oil and stains
  • Low odor, low VOC, pH neutral

This sealer will work on either. I just re-grouted my bathroom using both sanded and non-sanded grout. On both, I used this stainblocker without any issues whatsoever...Just follow the directions on the bottle and you won't have any issues either.

Answer:
According to the manufacturer, it can be added to BOTH sanded and non-sanded "Portland cement based grouts" (such as Custom Building Products Polyblend Grout). It's important to note that it is intended to replace a portion of the water when mixing the grout for initial application. It should not be used as a grout sealer after the grout has already been applied.

This can be used on any type tile you install, as this sealer is for the grout.
You add this sealer to the grout as you're mixing it, in place of the water.
The mixing directions on the bottle explain what proportions to use.

Test the grout once a year. Sprinkle a drop of water on to the grout, if droplet of water penetrates immediately then apply one more coat of sealer. If droplet of water beads for a few minutes then there is not need for extra sealer yet.

You state in your reply that the Stain Blocker is a sealer designed to repeal dirt and make cleaning easier and will not make the grout waterproof or stain proof. Well my question is, why is it called stain blocker and depicted on your container label water beading in the grout lines.

Unfortunately, the answer given to you is not completely accurate.
This product is a stainblocker/sealer. It does make cleanup easer by preventing dirt, etc. from working it's way into the grout.
This product also does prevent stains in the same way I just mentioned.

As far as water beading up on the tile, this product won't do that completely. It will provide some degree of water repelling qualities, but only on the grout which is where this product is mixed into.
The degree of stain and water resistance is in direct relation to the ratio you mix this with the grout.
The included directions on the bottle further explain this.

Answer:
The sealer is called Stain Blocker because it blocks water penetration for a few minutes so that a spill can be wiped off to prevent a stain however; if the spill is not wiped off soon enough, it can penetrate into the grout making a stain.

Rated 3.2 out of 5 by 33 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worthless Product, does nothing it claims. A licensed Contractors opinion Had no problems with mixing, applying or wiping down the product. Really no difference than standard water mix grout. BUT, the product offers NO benefit what so ever. After curing, the grout absorbs water just as if we had used a water only mix. The label is certainly a falsehood, as water does not shed at all, and quickly absorbs into grout. I could immediately see the grout darken when water was sprayed onto tile. We have used "Procolor Stain Guard admix" for years and it actually works as advertised. It does cost twice as much, but at least it performs. Find a local tile dealer and use a product that works. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON STAINBLOCKER! Licensed Contractor in Ga for 30 years. December 18, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Read the fine print! NOT A SEALER! Long story short. Purchased this product along with poly blend non sanded grout for tub enclosure. Looks good and yes grout seems strong (but it's new) and pretty. The problem is! This is not a waterproof sealer or actually any kind of sealant. It's a stain blocker ONLY. So if you want sealer look elsewhere. To me this is unnecessary step. You seal the grout to keep out stains and make waterproof. I was under the impression this was a full sealer and blocker. The only reason I see to have this is if you don't seal. But why would you not seal and moisture proof your grout anywhere you use it?!? May 5, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Please do not use This messed up my tile installation. Please do not purchase July 4, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Results Stain Blocker is not a true stain blocker as stated from the manufactures answer to my questions and non answer to the package photo on the label in my opinion. a waste of 20 bucks September 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Additive - A Must Have For Grouting Applications Using this additive is super easy. I use just this instead of water to mix the grout. The finished results do not alter the intended color of the grout at all. I love how this product protects the actual grout from stains, and excess moisture. Water beads right off. Somewhat pricy, but hands down, way better than attempting to seal your grout lines individually. Very pleased, and highly recommended for all your grouting applications. March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Very good product I used many times turns regular grout in strong grout March 8, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good product- Used all the time on customer installs I am a professional remodeling contractor who specializes in bathroom installation. I have installed thousands of square feet of tile before and after using this product (once it was introduced to the market). Grout haze is an installer error and not the fault of this product. The grout is definitely stronger and more stain resistant when using this product. I have used it in my own shower and it works great. For people who are getting staining, it could be so many issues. No grout additive can prevent all stains. This product is Not desisgned to repel water. Even a sealer that is applied after grouting will not SEAL tile. If you want the least stains, go with an epoxy grout. This is a great product for the price and DOES work. January 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy installation The people with bad reviews of hard to remove grout haze had to have left the excess grout on the surface too long,I tiled an entire shower; walls and floor with ceramic and glass mosaic as well as bathroom floor approx 125 sq. Ft with zero problems outside the usual haze. Mixing this product is also convenient being it's in a 32oz jug you pour it in bucket, the refill with water and dump the powered grout in, no guesswork on how much water or need to bring a measuring cup out to ensure proper mixing. I'd absolutely use this product again; no reason not to. it's like a $19 insurance policy for your expensive tile job. May 30, 2015
