Confusing specs

Your specs say Amps 425, Current 425, Volts 425. What gives?
Asked by: Dave
Yes it is for non-engineers, the 425 is its VA (Volts x Amps) maximum capacity. At normal 120 volts it can put out about 3.5 amps (425/120). Its watt rating is also dependent on Volts x Amps, but that is rated on continuous output for the UPC rated time. In this case 2 minutes. What it should say is maximum amperage 3.5 at 120 volts, capable of powering 255 watts for 2 minutes.

How long will battery last when being used for security cameras?

Asked by: Westy
According to the manufacturer, the wattage rating is for 2 minutes. If your cameras pull more than the rated output, much less than that. If less add time to that figure. Look at your camera's or their power supplies and add up their individual wattage. If wattage is not listed, multiply the voltage x the amperage.

I have a Marantec Garage Door Opener and would like to use it if there is a black out. Would I be able to use this Battery Backup outlet as a solution?
Asked by: Art
It depends on how many watts the opener requires. It probably requires 60-100Watts of power depending on if there are incandescent light bulbs in it. It will probably work OK - but it will only work 2-3 times (maybe) before the battery is drained. It may work a little better if you replace your light with an LED equivalent that draws less watts than the incandescent bulb. The savings in power needed may get you another open or closing cycle.

These have more backup power and 8 nicely spaced outlets for 2 or 3 adapters on each side. I have not had a power outage to verify their effectiveness, but so far after 1 mth they seem to be working and the extra outlets have allowed me to reduce a 6 bank of surge protector. I had to use 3 now only 2 and the outlets on the wall. Did I mention the spacing of the outlets for adapters? Everything has an adapter and not all of them have a regular plug (small) like my laptops. Also the price is great. Much lower than the competitors models and the other stores. This unit can also stand up saving floor space.
