I have a Marantec Garage Door Opener and would like to use it if there is a black out. Would I be able to use this Battery Backup outlet as a solution?
Asked by: Art
It depends on how many watts the opener requires. It probably requires 60-100Watts of power depending on if there are incandescent light bulbs in it. It will probably work OK - but it will only work 2-3 times (maybe) before the battery is drained. It may work a little better if you replace your light with an LED equivalent that draws less watts than the incandescent bulb. The savings in power needed may get you another open or closing cycle.

Confusing specs

Your specs say Amps 425, Current 425, Volts 425. What gives?
Asked by: Dave
This unit provides 425 Volt amps - that's the load it is capable of supporting for a few minutes. The smaller the load the greater the backup time. It's better to think of it in terms of Watts supplied during power outage. For example a tower PC usually has a 200 watt power supply but typically uses less than that, similarly a laptop only needs 2-3 watts of power - the observation is this unit will keep a tower PC up for a couple of minutes because it requires higher wattage than a laptop power supply.

What is the amp hour rating of the battery?

I can figure out my runtime with that info, without having to call and bother your tech support. It seems strange to have a battery based product on sale with no capacity information at all. Thank you.
Asked by: CJ
The last one I opened had a 12V 5.5Ah battery inside. But, it was an older version of this model and had the same rating 425Va.

425-Volt 8-Outlet UPS Battery Backup is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best price and does the trick I mainly use these to handle brown outs; not so much for a bunch of runtime. Have to buy a new one of these every 4 years or so; not worth replacing the battery. Best price I could find and free shipping was great. Bought an extra one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hard to find, good back-up This battery back-up 8 outlet surge protector was impossible to find in stores. Home Depot had it online. Ordered it and picked it up in the store a few days latter. Easy purchase. I like that 4 of the 8 outlets have the additional battery back-up. The spacing of the outlets is good for the bigger plugs. I also like the phone line protection it provides. Great product, would recommend.

I am using this as a backup supply source for sprinkler clock and outdoor fountain. It seems to work fine, but you really don't know unless the power to the house goes out often, which it doesn't.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with short term power outages Works great with short term power outages on my AT&T U-verse DVR and modem. In the past if the power was out for more than 5 seconds the system need to be restarted. Don't need to do that anymore.
