I was a little reluctant to make this large of purchase without researching, so after about 6 months I finally decided on the gerber drain strainer thing. It was a little tricky to install but once I got the instructions online and borrowed a 'screwdriver' from my father in law I had it in in a little less than 4 hours. Now when my wife's hairs try to go down the drain they get stuck on the drainy screen thing and I don't have to call a plumber to pull them out, saving me thousands per year!

It didn't fit the shower in my new house because the setup inside the drain is different. But, I had it in my old apartment and it works well.

For a screw and a bent piece of perforated sheet metal it costs $8. If you buy 3 screws of the same size its $1. This is way overpriced but you have to have it.

Very affordable, looks nice, super easy to install, and serves its purpose of catching stuff from clogging the drain.
