where does the spring go

where does the spring go
Asked by: junior
The spring goes underneath the plastic valve seat. You have to remove the old seat with a pair of long nose pliers or a small screwdriver. Once the seat is out, the spring is visible and can easily be removed. It's always a good idea to replace the spring and seat before installing the stem.

On cold water side it works fine but feels flimsy/cheap. On the hot side i think that there may be expansion of materials because it seems like the washer gets tight and sticky once the water has been running for several seconds. I thought that the cartridge was over torqued so i tightened with my fingers and it still was sticky. I called Delta and they sent me originals which work and feel much better to operate. They use brass stems so the use is more fluid and the washers don't stick.

However, the stem is made from plastic, not metal like the original Delta part. So, the handle didn't feel like it was very tight. So, for this reason I wouldn't recommend this product unless it's the only option available.

It did not stop the water from leaking.if you have a Delta Water Faucet just call call them and they will send you the stem made out of brass for free. Delta has a lifetime grantee on their equipment. The cheap plastic ones, don't buy! They are very unstable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Delta Replacement Faucet Stem I purchased this item as a replacement for a Delta faucet stem. The fit was good but the stem was too flexible (flimsy) with the handle on. I opted to rebuild the stem with a #38 o ring and will be returning the DANCO-3S-16H-C-Faucet-Stem. Disappointing.

I had to remove the junk parts and remove $0.50 worth of O-rings to rebuild the old cartridge. Save your money - get the O-rings from the original faucet and purchase only the seals.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Won't Last Replaced a wobbly dripping stem with this upon moving into my new homes primary bath (family of 4). 2 years later it's back exactly to wobbly & dripping. This valve is 100% plastic & doesn't last. Find a brass or factory replacement.

Not as sturdy as the Delta brand replacement part: handles wobble a bit due to this part having a plastic stem instead of brass. But less expensive, and I hope good enough for a faucet that's not used too much.
