Customer Questions & Answers

How long does the copper pipe have to be coming out of the wall?

Our copper pipe coming out of our wall behind the spout is only about 1 inch long and the threaded portion is only 1/2 inch. How long does the copper pipe threaded portion need to be for the spout? Thank you.
Asked by: Shelldayeah
There is a plastic piece that goes on the pipe and then screws on - 1 inch might be too short for the screw to grab

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Below average looks good but does not function properly. Water sprays out of the spout all over the place. Doesn't leak, but does not provide a steady water flow. If you lay on your back, perhaps you could use it as a shower head??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice LaRGE Too! This Danco faucet can be used on 4 different connections. 1/2" copper pipe slip connection, 1/2" male threaded connection with short stub out connection, 1/2" male threaded connection with long stub out nipple and 3/4" male threaded connection with short stub out nipple. Directions are included for each connection and are straight forward. Easy to follow directions and not too time consuming unless the pipe coming out of the wall is crooked. Then you have to call a plumber. Nice quality. I was surprised by the nice weighty feel of this faucet. Water flow is great. Pull up for shower redirect works very well. It is quite attractive. The satin nickel finish is very pretty. It is larger than normal so it looks perfect in the master bathroom which has a very large tub!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Danco spout - worst spout ever This is absolutely the worst bathtub spout ever made. I've purchased Danco products in the past with little trouble, the issues I've experienced attempting to install this simple slip on bathtub spout has been extremely frustrating. As other several other previous reviewers have stated, the plastic extension tube absolutely will not fit over a standard 1/2 I.D. copper pipe without modifying the plastic extension at the risk of destroying it or sand down about 10% of your copper pipe so the extension will fit. Talk about wasting a ton of time attempting to install this danco junk before ultimately returning it for a Pfister spout that was less than half the price and installed in less than ten minutes... great job there Danco for checking the fitment of your junk before wasting everyone's time! Do a Google search for Danco bathtub spouts or read the reviews on Amazon, the fitment issue is a known issue that still hasn't been resolved by Danco... Sheesh!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Watch the installation video Instructions are inadequate. Search "Dancohomesolutions how to replace a tub spout" on Youtube for a video from the manufacturer that clarifies everything. I have no leakage problems and the spout *does* fit flush against the shower wall, as long as you start with the "extension nipple" flush with the wall. Another tip: when screwing the extension nipple over the adapter, the divot for the screw has to line up over the slot in the adapter that is now inside it. The problem is that after a few turns it'll still feel loose but you won't think you'll get another full turn out of it to line up the the divot over the slot again. The placement of the slot relative to the start of the threading wasn't designed correctly. But, if you lubricate the threads where the extension nipple screws over the adapter (this should be mentioned in the instructions) and sneak a flat-head screwdriver into one of the slots on the back of the adapter to hold it in place, you'll get that last turn on it. I think failure to get this last turn is why so many people report leakage. You *do* have to turn the screw all the way into the plastic until it breaks through and makes tight contact with the pipe, but not until you have the extension/adapter assembly in position flush with the wall, and over-tightening can damage the pipe. On a cosmetic note, the spout is made of metal (not just plastic) but the brushed nickel color is too tan/orange to look real, and the brushed texture is barely there. It doesn't look like a high quality fixture. It's "ok" for our 2nd bathroom and it's the only thing HD had in stock with a brushed nickel finish so I'm keeping it, but you get what you pay for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Typical Chinese-made junk; terrible instructions I first purchased this product from Lowe's since it matched the rest of my shower hardware. I knew there would be a good chance of problems since the instructions stated at the top: "... the illustrations may not be typical of your parts..." Really...? The product comes completely assembled, so as you are reading the instructions, which tell you to look for "this and that", and to do "this and that", the pieces are already assembled. I tried to follow the instructions, but the spout was clearly not installed as it should be. I returned it and went to Home Depot which stocked the identical item. I purchased it and used my intuition where to drill into the plastic housing for the set-screw and how to install the item that made sense. It worked! The product is OK, though a bit overpriced, but the instructions should be written by someone that can actually speak colloquial English.
