Customer Questions & Answers

Will this fit a Glacier Bay sink pop up?

Will this replace the pop up rod in a Glacier Bay bathroom sink? The old ball is 0.62" in diameter.
Asked by: Chris
my glacier bay ball rod has a slightly smaller ball than this Danco replacement. The Danco replacement model #88532 with three balls worked for me. The smallest ball was the small size as the glacier one. You screw the ball onto the rod. the ball has a plastic rod that lifts the stopper instead of metal rod. Reviews on the this ball and rod said the plastic rod breaks but I cut off the plastic rod portion, drilled the hole completely through the ball, screwed the metal rod through the ball and extended it as the metal lifter for the stopper. The rod was long enough for my sinker to do that. There is two ball washer from my old drain. The washer inside the drain was still good but the outside ball washer was cracked from age. I used a faucet aerater rubber washer as I couldn't find a ball washer. The sink is working perfectly. No leaks.

How do you adjust the open/closed mode

I installed the new pop-up rod but it doesn't lift the stopper up enough for the sink to drain. I adjusted the rod in the "lift bar" but that doesn't make it rise any higher. Any suggestions?
Asked by: kathihe3
the adjustment is made with the sliding of the clip holding the rod in place it's easy

The “flange” didn’t hold very well either. You have to slide it in closer to the drain in order to prevent it from slipping off; therefore, the rod should be about 1 to 1 1/2” longer. I hate to use the words “Jerry-rig”, but that’s exactly what I had to do with the old rod in order to seal the drain without replacing it. One simple breakage lead to such an ordeal! This is why I was hoping your pop-up ball rod would have worked!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well worth the money The back side of the rod was very long and I had to cut some of it off so that it would not interfere with my sink cabinet. Also, the new part has a plastic nut that is contoured to fit the plastic ball. I opted to use my original brass nut and plastic seat/washer. It worked very well. (The plastic nut went in the garbage.) I also use plumbers grease on the ball and the sink raise and lower mechanism.

I did keep the cap from the prior pop-up and the two work together OK. The Ball needs to be adjusted closer to the end. It is pushed up the rod to high. However, with pliers and a hammer it is an easy fix.

The product is ok but the while popup ball is much smaller than what exists now. So I ended up not using this. I could not find the original packing so could not return it as well. I could not remove the pop-up ball and put the older one from the ball.

I originally tried the universal repair that has three different ball adapters, but the plastic rod would bend when lifting the stopper. This one was a good fit, easy to install, and so far has worked fine.
