I went through three of these. I would have bought the OEM version to replace it but my store was out and I couldn't turn the water back on without a valve in the plumbing fixture.
-The first one had poorly fitting gaskets. On the way into the valve, one gasket caught on a water inlet. The gasket had to shred to come out or go in any further. It was returned after wrestling it out.
-The second went in smoothly. I turned the water on and all was good for about six weeks. Then it started leaking. First a drip or two a minute, then a steady stream from the hot water. It was returned.
-The third (after searching stores around the area for the OEM part) barely fit all the way in the valve. I verified there were no foreign objects in the valve - it was just poor tolerances in the manufacturing. See a trend? I did my best to make it fit but it leaked at about 10% of the full on water volume.
I replaced it with an OEM Moen valve straight from Moen and it fit VERY EASILY and DOESN'T LEAK. Save yourself the headache: pay $5 more and search until you find an OEM Moen valve. You'll thank yourself later and save way more than $5 in your time.
Thanks to Home depot for the friendly return policy, but please stop selling this junk and keep more OEM parts in stock.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dcwjr Dont buy this one, spend the extra four dollars on the moen replacement cartridge
Last year my bath tub faucet started leaking, so I replaced the internal cartridge, I bought the danco cartridge, installed and it worked good up until a couple weeks , so this morning I tore it apart again, went to home depot and bought this same cartridge, installed, went in hard, turned my water back on and tub faucet was leaking bad with hot water this time, so I took it back out and returned it back to home depot and got the moen replacement cartridge this time, installed it, the moen cartridge went in like a breeze turned my water back on and this time no more leaks...moral of story, you get what you pay for, spend the extra four dollars on the moen replacement cartridge, you will be happier and better off in the long run!!!

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by ddasch This product caused water hammer in the pipes and we put 3 holes in the wall trying to find the problem
There were no Moen replacement cartridges at our local Home Depot and we were insured that the Danco cartridge was an equal substitute. The old cartridge was difficult to remove, so when the water hammer started after installation of the new cartridge, we assumed we broke a water pipe strap during the removal of the old cartridge. After 3 holes were put in the wall, we found the pipe straps were fine. We then checked the reviews of the Danco cartridge, and found this was a common problem with this item. Moen sent us a replacement cartridge, it was installed, and the water hammer/banging has stopped. Amazing!
When the holes in the wall are repaired, and the walls painted, we will have completed the job of replacing the leaking cartridge.

I installed this cartridge black Friday...after I turned back on the water I had what sounded like the pipes banging in the shower every time I turned off a water...kitchen...washer...didn't matter...I thought I had air in the lines...bleed the water system...still banged...then about a week later the shower dripped...a lot...I replaced the cartridge with a Moen and it fixed all my problems...no drip and no pipe banging...do not waste your time or money with this cartridge...

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by McGR Get a MOEN OEM not Danco.
About a month ago I replaced my dripping Moen shower cartridge with this unit. The installation went fine and the valve functioned properly. However, after installing this valve I started experiencing significant water hammer noises whenever other water valves in the house were used. At first we were amused and joked about the ghost in the wall. But after a few weeks, it was really getting on my nerves.
So... I quickly became and expert on the science of the water hammer effect. I initially tried to remedy the problem by draining the water pipes several times - no change. Today, I decided I was going to get to the bottom of this. I started by buying and installing a couple of water hammer arrestors - no change. I eventually convinced myself that I had jarred a pipe loose installing the valve and that a rattling pipe was the noise I was hearing. In order to confirm my suspicion, I decided to smash 6 ceramic tiles and cut a hole in the wall. To my dismay, there was no rattling pipe to be found . After further analysis, I eventually realized that the sound seemed to be coming from the valve. I then decided to run out and find a MOEN OEM valve.
After installing the Moen valve the "ghost in the wall" is now gone. I proceeded to go to HD to return the Danco valve and get tile mortor and grout (to fix the hole in the wall). After spending the entire day (a vacation day nonetheless) messing with this issue, the problem is now behind me. My advice don't buy this valve get a Moen original save yourself the headaches.
BTW, after doing some quick online searches, I have learned several others have had this problem with this Danco valve ... be forewarned.

Danco must have a bad batch with wrong dimensions for rubber gaskets. Removed old cartridge then cleaned out and lubricated faucet valve body, tried to install Danco replacement cartridge, it didn't fit, ruined the rubber gaskets. Frustrated went back bought another one and two danco gasket replacement kits. Second try, same thing, went to use rubber gasket kit, they don't even fit their own cartridge, Danco has nibs to hold gasket, the new rubber gasket in kit doesn't allow for this as they would only fit a moen OEM cartridge if they weren't oversized (to thick). Went to Menards to get Moen OEM replacement, and it fit perfect the way it should. 3 hours=Danco 5 minutes=moen

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by dk76 wasted my time and gas
i should have read the review first before i wasted my time and gas to find out this product does not deliver anuthing close to the moen 1222. it caused water hammering right after i installed it and the pin that secures the cartridge did not slide through without slighty bending the pin with a flat head screw driver to go through the bottom end of the pipe. everything was fine after returning the product as a defective item.... no water hammering and the pin slid through without effort. if i can get compensation for wasting my time and gas i would say please do....but please save your time and do not buy any DANCO posi-temp cartridge.
