Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Typically, the aerator will have standard threads (righty-tighty), but since you will be looking at it from the opposite direction, you will want to turn it clockwise to loosen it.

Hi mkeb,
The filter you are referring to is called the aerator.
They have right hand thread and you will need to turn it
counter clockwise to remove it.

If it is dripping from the faucet, the two small round washers are probably worn and/or the springs holding them in place have gone weak. Go ahead and replace the other parts while you are in there, like the O-rings, joystick ball, and the Delrin cam. Search on "repairing a Delta faucet" for links and videos.

Note: Worn washers don't look much different from new ones...so use the pair of washers that match the ones in your faucet.
Tools: The kit comes with an Allen wrench, and depending on the details of your faucet a crescent wrench (if it has flats) or a pair of ChannelLock pliers (if not) will open the faucet up. A pair of needle nose pliers is very helpful for placing the springs and washers. Don't forget to buy some plumber's silicone grease to grease the O-rings...this will make your faucet turn more smoothly and help prevent leaks around the base of the faucet. Read Less

Thank you for your inquiry. On this style of faucet, you can probably stop the drip just by changing the seats and springs with kit #80684 (http://www.homedepot.com/p/DANCO-Seats-and-Springs-for-Delta-80684/204150929)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy fix for a leaking Delta faucet I bought this kit to repair a constantly dripping Delta kitchen faucet. I tried new seals and they didn't help. Installing this kit took just a few minutes, and everything fit perfectly. The faucet is now drip free. June 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy repair of my Delta faucet with this kit. Once I got the faucet apart it was easy repairing a slow drip with this kit. May 31, 2016

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Be sure to get the right kit, bring the old one in if you can... employee handed me wrong one (even with old one) Many people do not realize that Delta carries a life time warranty for the original owner. All you have to do is contact the company and they will send you the repair parts for free. Always buy Delta and save the original receipt, you will never need to buy replacement parts. This is especially important if you have high calcium in your water ('hard' water). http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/faq/warranty/index.html For Canadians... http://www.trustedeblogs.com/get-free-delta-faucet-parts/ March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Faucet repair It has been two months since the Deota faucet was repaired & still working like new. February 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good kit but the instructions are lacking If you've repaired a Delta faucet before, this is old hat (they are all very similar inside). The parts are all high quality and fit a variety of faucets--but be sure you use the right size washer and spring (the kit comes with two sizes of each). If you haven't, be sure to read up or watch some YouTube videos first as the directions that come with the kit are terrible. It's an easy DIY job but the directions don't help. Also, the kit doesn't come with plumber's silicone grease for the O-rings. It mentions that you need it inside in the instructions; it would be nice if they mentioned it on the outside pack to save a second trip to The Home Depot. July 15, 2015
