Product Overview

The HydroStop replaces flimsy rubber flappers with a sturdy tower, it is engineered to eliminate the most common toilet problems. Unlike the angled, floating close of a flapper, the HydroStop drops vertically and solidly onto the flush valve opening to create a better seal and eliminate the possibility of leaks. The EPA estimates that 20% of all toilets leak up to 200 Gal. of water a day, mostly because of faulty flappers. While ordinary flappers are connected to the handle with a thin chain that is subject to improper tension tangles and breakage, the HydroStop features a durable stainless steel cable that is stronger, lasts longer and is less likely to break. The HydroStop also features patented S.T.O.P. Technology (Safe Toilet Overflow Protection) that helps prevent bowl overflows. In the event of a clog, lifting up on the handle immediately drops the HydroStop tower and closes the flush valve so that water does not continue to drain from the tank into the bowl.

  • Handle activates spring loaded S.T.O.P. technology to immediately prevent overflows
  • Eliminates the guesswork about buying the right type and size of flapper
  • Permafit silicone seal is chemical resistant and will not warp
  • Does not require tank removal or tools;
  • Drop-in installation with no tools or tank removal needed
  • Lighttouch handle allows for an easier flush

Answer:
Same here. Specifically, the plastic rod that connects the handle to the flush actuator. Seems to be a design or manufacturing flaw. Stronger part (better able to withstand repetitive torque of operation over months of use) would be desirable.
Called DANCO support number as described in other post. They are sending me a replacement handle.
Otherwise, the system works well.

Thank you for choosing Danco/MJSI products. We apologize for the difficulty you have experienced.
1. If this is not a brand new install, check to make sure that the zip tie that holds the mounting bracket closed is still in place. If not, replace it.
2. Shut off the water and remove the entire unit.
3. Disconnect the upper housing from the base and remove cam adjuster and slide unit down overflow tube.
4. Wipe down the surface of the valve opening with a cloth soaked in white vinegar to ensure there is no mineral buildup or other debris that could be causing the leak.
5. Verify the dome gasket is making good contact (all the way around and not only hitting in one spot). Press down with 2 fingers on the upper edge of the base. *Pushing down too hard when installing is the most common reason for a bad seal. Watch the inside of the seal as you install it. If you can see it bending, you've pushed too far.
6. Add cam adjuster to fill space on the front or back of overflow tube. If the Zip tie is too tight, cut it off and add new zip tie (provided on the instruction sheet).
7. Disregard the cam adjuster if there is not space. Tighten the zip tie and reassemble upper housing.
8. When sliding the black rubber retainer band down, bring it until it just touches the mounting bracket. It's not so much there to hold the unit down as it is to keep if from coming up. Pushing down too hard can tilt the unit and cause a leak.
Test by shutting off water while tank is full. Do not flush for 30 minutes. Check water level. If water level drops, repeat the steps above Read Less

Answer:
Push down as hard as you can to create a good seal for the flapperless flush valve and then zip tie to the drain tube to secure. Same thing happened to me and the black rubber gasket isnt seated properly causing a slow drain of the tank and it is refilling.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Solves the problem This was a snap to install. It ended my fight with chain length and leaking float. It also lets me adjust water. August 30, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product Install is easy when you figure out the important bits. The feature of lifting the handle to stop toilet overflows is exceptional. August 30, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Didn's solve my problem thought would be an easy fix for leaky flapper. didn't solve the problem and was a pain to seat the rubber gasket to properly seal the inlet. couldn't get device to stay down and apply pressure to seal. the gasket would either kink and let water out or not stay pressured down which would also break seal and leak. pretty annoying. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Seals tight, Lever works great I recently replaced the flapper and handle on my toilet because the flapper was leaking and wasting water. I went with this combo unit because I have had numerous handles either break (plastic) or corrode (metal). The cost was about the same for both items, plus it has a lifetime warranty (whatever that's worth -- try and find the receipt in a few years when the time comes. LOL). This was recommend to me by a sales associate at HD who had installed it at his own house. It's good to talk to someone who has used the product you are purchasing. Anyway the installation went smoothly and the cable lever works great. It moves the flapper correctly every time. I hope it lasts many years. June 7, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Product worked well - until it failed - design defect Easy to install, worked perfectly until the handle shaft broke. A close look at the failure revealed the weak link is the shaft that runs through the handle. Would have been a great value if it lasted more than a year. The box shows 10 year guarantee. I found the manufacturer's web site and left a request for a new handle. Meanwhile, I purchased another kit just to get a handle. The new kit looks like the identical design and materiel in the handle, so I don't expect long life from that either. January 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Refurbish Old Toilet - Case I refurbished an old Case toilet with this device. Case went out of business decades ago and replacement parts are expensive. I have 4 in my house, a lot of kids, and I don't want to spend a fortune replacing parts. I took out all the old Case parts and put this over the tank hole. I put a brick on top to hold it in place. It works great! December 30, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wish it Worked. Didn't work for me. Still leaked. Had no choice because Fluid master had one that worked for me but they stopped making it. It had some type of new seat that glued onto the old seat. The ones I have installed years ago are still working. So far, no complaints from tenants. Now I have no choice but to take the tank and bowl apart and replace everything. I bought the complete Fluid master kit over the other big competitor since they have a 5 year warranty, flush handle and some kind of "leak" detection mechanism. July 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Dancing Hydrostop Super easy to install. Simply remove defective stopper and twist on new. Efficient and inexpensive. July 26, 2016
