Customer Questions & Answers

Can they be stacked?

My toilet is resting about 3/4 inch off the floor. Can these be stacked in order to reach the right height?
Asked by: Claire
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, these can be stacked, but a 3/4' gap is considerable, and will be hard to seal. You'd be best off addressing the underlying issue.

How does it work?

I would like to know how it works. If the toilet is not level, will it make level?
Asked by: Sebastian
Hello Sebastian, Toilet shims are small plastic wedges that help with leveling problem toilets. You insert the thin side of the wedge under the bowl of the toilet to a point where a level placed on top of the bowl reads true. If you where experiencing minor rocking shims can also help. The excess of the shim can be cut away with a utility knife to clean up the repair. Keep in mind that depending on how badly uneven the toilet was before you added the shims. You may want to consider installing a new wax ring, as the old one may have been damaged. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris By ChrisFixit - 02/14/2014 09:14:13 CST Approved

Customer Reviews

Plastic Toilet Shims 4-Pack is rated 3.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from works well The shims are difficult to cut but work well and I leveled my toilet quickly and by myself. I stuck them in while leveling the toilet and then finished the install and testing. Then I took my soldering iron and used that to trim the shim. Effortless and clean looking. That was my little trick. Took a star off for the trimming part but the shim it self is good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They work They are what they are - toilet shims. A bit more difficult to cut than advertised. I ended up using a coping saw I had lying around from my bathroom remodel project. Once in place they do the trick nicely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from did the job with ease they worked as well if not better than any other shim I've used.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from can't be trimmed easily Great idea if the gap you need to shim is exactly the height of the shim, otherwise you'll have a big chunk of plastic sticking out from underneath the toilet. These are hard plastic so when you try trimming them and they snap and break into pieces. I do not recommend using these unless they fit perfectly or you don't mind a rough looking installation.
