Thank you for your inquiry. We're not sure what you mean by noodle, but most handles have a screw, sometimes hidden under a button, that you remove to take the handle off. You would then put this handle on using a set screw underneath the lever.

Customer Reviews

Replacement Lavatory and Tub/Shower Handle for Moen is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great Handle Bad Hardware I have replaced several of these Moen handles. This the best handle. Hardware kit is a problem. The first one I got had two Phillips screws and no hex screws. The second kit had both screws but the hex head was not machined correctly. I had an 1/8" ball hex hey that would work but the wrench included and std wrenches would not fit into the socket. Finally it is installed, fits tightly, works fine. It is easier to put the screw in the handle if water is off and you rotate so the screw goes straight down and you can see what you are doing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Control Recommended but only with reservations as noted below: I purchased this product to replace a broken Moen shower knob #96997 for which the current OEM replacement appears to be the #100710 posi-temp one-handle tub and shower knob. Reviews for the Moen part aren’t too great and I can see why. The part relies on a thin piece of plastic inside the knob to turn the water valve. I’m surprised mine didn’t break long ago. So, I decided to try this metal replacement knob. What could go wrong? It’s made of some kind of cast metal with a shiny chrome finish. All the parts are metal. Unfortunately it has two major faults. 1. The screw that secures the knob to the valve has a hex head. Included in the kit is a hex key for this screw. The problem is the hex key is ever so slightly too small for the screw. If you put any sort of pressure on this combination the key will spin in the screw head making it impossible to tighten it adequately. The included hex key measured 2.7mm. Fortunately I have a hex key set and found that the best fit was 3.0mm. This may sound insignificant but it was the difference between getting this kit to work properly and returning it. 2. The knob itself is threaded to accept the hex head screw. Either the screw is too long or the threaded hole is too short. Take your pick. The screw hole appears to be tapered at the bottom, just a couple of turns too short. Because of this the knob wobbles on the valve shaft. My options were to find a shorter hex screw (good luck on that), use a Dremel to cut off part of the screw, or force the screw into the hole. I decided to do the later as I could put a lot of pressure on it due to having the correct hex key. Using a drop of WD-40, it worked. I removed the screw and found that there was minor damage to the threads. I then cleaned everything and coated the thread with some thread locker. The knob looks good and works just fine. I’m taking off two stars due to poor quality control. One star for wrong hex key size and one star for improper screw or screw hole length.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great replacement. Slightly wobbly. All metal replacement for the plastic knobs that continuously break. Moen's customer service has replaced the knob for me at least 3 times with no hesitation but it's a pain in the meantime while waiting for the replacement. This one, with all metal construction, will hopefully last longer than the plastic version. It is a little wobbly no matter how much you tighten the grub screw. Caution: take care when tightening, the supplied hex wrench is not a perfect fit and you may strip the screw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from There Is None More Metal (Unlike the Moen Version) I had the original plastic Moen knob that broke every couple of years. (The first time, it broke in such a way that I had to actually saw it off, which was an incredible PITA.) So I looked for a less plastic replacement that might last. Moen offers a metal lever that fits the valve for about double the price of this (as well as fancier versions for even more money), but the adapter ring that comes with it is plastic! This unit, on the other hand, comes with a metal adapter ring. The Moen version is a little nicer looking, and this handle feels just slightly loose sometimes, but I love the fact that there is no plastic in there. I no longer cringe every time I turn on the shower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice looking replacement handle This handle is easier to turn than the original Moen shower plastic handle. It was very easy to install the screws but the directions for the allen screw might lead someone to misunderstand where the threads are within the metal handle to shaft adapter. The handle looks nice and should be more durable than the plastic handle that after only 43 years old became became sloppy on the valve shaft.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome replacement to plastic Moens Easy to install & 100% better than Moen plastic handles that break often. Looked much better too!
