Will this replace a Series 1600?

I know that the description says 600 and 14 series, but some one on Amazon said it worked on their Series 1600. I am desperately looking for a way to upgrade the trim in my shower without tearing out the wall. I am told that my current trim is 1600 series. Photos attached.

Thank you for your inquiry. This was designed for and tested on the 600 and 1400 series only. If we knew that it would work on any other model without warranty-voiding modifications that could potentially lead to leaks and expensive structural damage, we'd certainly market it that way. As such, we cannot recommend it for anything other than the two models it is intended for, the 600 and 1400 series.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect way to upgrade your old Delta shower First off, I purchased this kit despite all the negative reviews I read here. I am in the process of remodeling our vintage 1980's guest bathroom and since Delta does not make a trim kit upgrade for their antique models, this Danco kit is literally the only option out there, without replacing the entire valve assembly. I knew going into this project that the Danco escutcheon was plastic (why that even matters to anyone I have NO idea…did you plan on bragging about your metal escutcheon or something???), and I understood this is a generic kit that is meant to update a few different Delta models, therefore some compromises may have to be made. Secondly, I am not a professional plumber or contractor. I'm just a weekend warrior DIY'er type, with what I would consider "slightly" better than average mechanical skill and problem solving ability. That being said, I had no problem getting this kit to install and work properly. After reading some of the problems people had, I will have chalk that up as installer error. The escutcheon plate, adapter, gaskets, sleeve, and dome/dome nut went on perfectly. Escutcheon sat flush on the tile, however I did have to use my old Delta escutcheon screws because the supplied screws are 1/4" too short. Due to the grout lines, there are tiny gaps that needed to be dealt with. I used some clear silicone to seal it, which is common practice anyway (DUH!!). The plastic white threaded grommet on the dome assembly needed to be tightened down quite a bit to prevent leaks. There is a special tool made for that, I happened to have one handy since I had just replaced the springs and seals inside the valve assembly. Not sure what it's called, but it came with the seal repair kit. I tightened it down so there was adequate tension on the ball, which eliminates a problem others have commented on in different reviews: the handle being loose and drooping down. HELLO!! It isn't Danco's fault you couldn't figure out that tightening up the ball keeps the handle from drooping! At any rate, the handle adapter went on easily, however I worried it would wiggle loose over time, so I used Locktite thread locker (the blue kind) on the set screw. Same for the handle set screw. I also used some clear silicone on the end of the handle adapter to make sure it didn't wiggle and felt solid. Turned on the water, checked for leaks. Nope, not a single drip. Been using this shower daily for a week and have not had a single issue. Overall, I think for the price, this kit is a good deal, and a great solution, considering the alternative is spending a few hundred $$$ on a new valve kit. I think the fit and finish are fine. Yes, the escutcheon is plastic, but its not the floppy, bendable kind. It's solid and well painted. It actually looks metal when its up on the wall. Nobody will ever know but you. The handle is heavy and metal, as is the sleeve and dome. I paired this up with Danco's tub spout as you can see in the photo. I did have to use an adapter plate on the spout (also made by Danco) because there was a 1/2" gap, but it all turned out well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from MOST USELESS thing I ever bought at Home Depot This is an adapter kit that does not adapt. It is sold to fit four different type Delta shower valves and did not fit mine AT ALL. The outer cover is cheap, thin plastic and molded to require me to try and cutout MORE of the tile around the valve opening due to a raised center piece. The wall gasket does not fit tightly into its groove and is not compressed uniformly against the wall, which would lead to leaks and mold. It is cheaply made. It is extremely overpriced. It is poorly designed (maybe trying to fit too many valve types?)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful and high qualityi bought this to update I bought this to update a 60s vintage tub with Delta 212 faucet and it worked flawlessly and looks gorgeous. Yes the escutcheon is plastic as the others said but it's a very good quality, stiff part with metal plated finish that looks like a metal part when installed. Making the part from metal would have been unnecessary. The handle adapter fit like a glove and I have no idea what the other reviewers encountered but for the 212 it was a perfect fit. So if you have the 212 faucet this is a great way to make it look new and up to date.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Design I concur with all the other reviews concerning the handle. Terrible, terrible design. I can't believe Danco hasn't come up with a better design for this model. The way the inside mating part of the handle is formed creates too much play when mounted to the adapter. Also, the small 6-32 set screw will not tighten securely enough to make it practical. After a few uses the handle starts to wobble and the screw backs out. I contacted Danco and the rep recommended applying Loctite blue thread loc on the screw. I don't think this would remedy the entire problem. I am going to spend the extra bucks and buy the OEM replacement.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from CHEAP PLASTIC! It may look like metal but it's not! The handle is made from some type of metal but everything else isn't. After it was on, the handle wobbled because the tolerences between the handle and the sleeve coming out are over a cm. The sleeve is too short, the screws are too short, I mentioned it's all made from plastic, and poorly at that, even the gaskets they use to take up some of the slack between the sleeve are decal/stick on and leave glue residue all over the entire assembly. Fit and finish on this product was one of the lowest I've ever placed my hands on. If you never use your shower, this might do the trick, but if you do and the handle falls off, you should have known better after the three hours it took to get it installed (oh, I had the original back on if five minutes too Danco) Pathetic product. Going to talk to the manager to have removed from the product line.
