Customer Questions & Answers

How can I determine which Moen shower valve I have. It's inside the wall & I cannot see any numbers on it.

I ordered a trim kit that II thought would fit but it's for a different valve than mine.
Asked by: CVCal
Can you remove the handle & round wall plate to expose the valve? If you can, please post pictures on our Home Depot Community http://community.homedepot.com/howto of what you have, and we will try to help you out. Your only other option is to call a plumber or handyman and have them determine what it is. http://community.homedepot.com/howto

How do I determine the brand of valve I have?

We are hoping to replace the shower and tub faucet trim in two of our bathrooms but are having a hard time determining which brand we currently have. There are no identifying numbers or letters on the valves nor the faucets themselves. I have attached a picture. I hope you can help!
Asked by: Stephanie
Thank you for your inquiry. Unfortunately, we can''t tell from the attached picture what brand of faucet you have. Can you send us a picture of the cartridge removed from the faucet? We may be able to identify it using that. Our email address is support@danco.com.

Why does the plate stick out from wall 1/4 inch? This can't be right The plate can't be tightened any more.

Asked by: Help
Thank you for your inquiry. So that this will sit flush against the wall, it requires a 3-1/2' opening in the wall to accommodate the offset portion on the back of the flange.

Hi Richard, Thank you for your interest in Danco products. Escutcheon is one name for that part. You may also hear them called trim rings or trim plates. Best regards, Danco Support

Single-Handle Valve Trim Kit in Chrome for MOEN Tub/Shower Faucets (Valve Not Included) is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product I bought the plastic replacement and it broke in two days. So I bought this one. It was three Times the price but the plastic knob seams much more heavy duty than the other one. I installed the metal knob great easy installation. Still a little shaky but works well. I am going to tweak it this weekend and see if I could stabilize better. Overall I am happy with the replacement. Much easier and cheaper that a total replacement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from DO NOT BUY! This is so cheaply made. Do not waste your money on this product. It's plastic and the parts are not even equivalent to the older metal replacement parts! I am switching from brass to chrome and this (I thought) was going to be perfect for our shower. The kit was missing a screw, I had double of another screw and one part of the shaft was the wrong size by a few milimeters. The faceplate does not sit flush up against the shower wall - leaving about a 1/3" gap between the wall and the plate. Seriously, do not buy this cheap product...especially not for the $$

Rated 1 out of 5 by from not worth $39.00 cheap plastic parts, while all the parts were included, I noticed the package was taped shut, so I was not the first customer to return this. Your Customer service folks took great care of me and made the return process easy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from don't bother This is the second Danco product I've purchased and the second Danco product I've returned. The center inset is deeper than the rim, so it doesn't sit flush against the wall. Don't bother with this product unless you're prepared to put a bigger hole into your shower wall to accommodate the inset. The center inset is also removable and kept popping out as I was working with it, as did the gasket, which is not secured to the rim. This is not a true replacement part, just a cheap imitation that requires a substantial amount of effort and aggravation to use. I wish I had read the reviews before purchasing this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returning it Not the easy replacement advertised. After 2 hrs and having to drill holes so they match I'm returning it. Definitely doesn't replace the original Moen parts. I'm just gonna work with the old ones and put them back. No comparison. The original are heavy steel and chrome, this you could snap in half with your bare hands. Could understand if 10 bucks but 40?
