Customer Questions & Answers

How long does the copper pipe have to extend from the wall in order for this product to work?

Asked by: Aaron
The instructions say 2 to 3 inches. My copper pipe stub was exactly three inches long (I measured), and the spout snugged up perfectly.

Is the screw suppose to breakthrough the indentation on the adaptor

Asked by: Zooch45
Yes, in order to hold the set screw tight against the copper pipe. It's a bit of a chore to get the set screw to line up right. I would suggest that you make sure you get the set screw to punch through, remove the adaptor, then trim up the plastic that came through when the set screw punched through so you can slide the adapter back on. . This part of the installation was a tedious issue to get right, and I forgot to include it in my review, but I still give the product 5 stars.

how do you extend the adapter to get an extra inch from the adapter?

Asked by: Anonymous
Screw the nylon adapter into the spout then slide it over your copper line. The adapter has rubber o-rings close to the end, so you could probably use it with just a couple of inches of copper pipe sticking out of the wall.

Does it just slide on

My old diverter popped off Is it just worn out
Asked by: Kevin
It has a nylon tube which slides onto a copper pipe, using a screw in a ring (shown in the photo) to secure it. The nylon tube is threaded, and just screws into the spout.

Tub Spout with Diverter is rated 2.3 out of 5 by 56.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Piece of junk Don't ignore the reviews on here. The instructions are intelligible. Once I watched the video online I finally installed it and it leaked down the wall when the diverter was engaged. Avoid this product.

Installation is extremely complicated. In my opinion, this is one of those products that is designed to frustrate us "Do-it-yourselfers" into calling a plumber to install it.

I have been working on installing this tub spout for 3 hours, installing, taking it apart, re-installing, then taking it apart again. The problem is when screwing the spout onto the "slip pipe" (not sure what it's called). When doing so it never tightens and the collar on the "slip pipe" doesn't allow enough space to screw the spout on. It rubs and then just catches onto the spout and turns the "slip pipe" with each turn of the spout. It's very loose. Returning this garbage. Would rate a zero if I could. Give me something that works! It's replacing Moen which your package says it does. But not so well in my bathroom.

I loved the look and wanted to change over to brushed nickel. Unfortunately, this was hard to assemble, and could not be made not to leak. The little black piece is not useful and never explained. I eventually had to have a plumber come and repair the damaged copper spout from trying to get this on tight enough. And I had to stick with a chrome, because getting a true Moen part instead of this fake "universal" part meant it would have had to be ordered and I could not wait for that. So I got a true Moen spout, and it screwed right on, no problems. Significantly heavier metal. The old one lasted 40 years. Maybe the new one will too.

Product appears well made, and the instructions are relatively easy to follow. Getting it installed and keeping the O-ring seal in place was a bit of a challenge, but it finally went on right, and snugged right up to the wall with no play and doesn't leak. The tub spout does a good job of letting a LOT of water flow quickly, which is a plus in my mind. My only real issue with this tub spout is it is LOUD when water is running through it, and I mean ear splitting loud. Other than that, great product.
