Answer:
DAP Flexible CLEAR Sealant will bond well to a wide range of common building products, however, it is designed and recommend for use as a joint/gap sealant, not as a "patching compound". As indicated on the product package and supporting product literature: "Joint size should not exceed 3/8" wide by 3/8" deep", this product is not intended for use as a "patch" or "filler".

Answer:
Because of compatibility concerns (as a result of the previously applied silicone based sealant), as a general rule, it is recommended to use a silicone based sealant to reseal the window assemblies.

10.1 oz. Flexible Clear Sealant is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Frustrating - Hard to read instructions. DAP's response to the other guy's complaint was less than worthless. It gave a link that gave me hope that you would actually have an answer as to how to use this stuff. NO SUCH LUCK. You just got me stuck in a loop on the DAP website; leading me back to the same place. I'm still looking... I actually gave it ONE star on their site... But they don't accept one star ratings.... So I'm trying it here .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Instructions I had to guess at how to apply it. So far, so good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from so far, so bad. I read the very hard to read instructions, applied the product to my gutter seam... so far, so bad. I read the very hard to read instructions, applied the product to my gutter seams that were leaking during the last storm. I cleaned the area and got it fairly dry. The stuff simply will not stick! As the bead moves on, half of the lines hangs down. In my effort to get it to adhere I used a straight edge and the caulk decided to like the straight edge better than my gutter. Admittedly, I am not a skilled caulker, but my other experiences with other caulking material has never been so ugly and messy. Now the seam is one white goo mess.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome sealant, use it for everything outdoors! Have used this product with great results, love it. I used it on a couple cracked skylights about 10 years ago and still no leaks with the sealant exposed to uv for all those years. As for people saying they can't read the directions, you apply it like any other caulk, very simple; no instructions needed anyway. I have had the issue with the barcode not scanning and the cashier just typed the number in manually. Can't say enough about how good this product is. I am am electrician and use it to seal around light fixtures and boxes mounted to walls all the time. It will run if applied too thick on a vertical surface, however, that same property lets it smooth itself out. So if applied neatly, you won't even have to smooth it with your finger.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic sealer around Window Air-Conditioning Units I believe this was the product I used to seal all of the gaps around my three window, air-conditioning units. I couldn't find it the last few summers in my big box stores; I believe I last used it the summer of 2014. It was fantastic; so much easier than cutting and fitting foam into the gaps. Easy removal, too. Someone suggested that, perhaps, it is only available in the fall to prepare windows for winter. However I really need it in the summer! I used the caulk-styled tube and a good caulk gun.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Let's see Needed to seal and fill in gaps along top of trim board for front of my shed door. It was fair easy to use. Like any glue, foam, or adhesive you need to plan the application and go slow. I do need to complain about information you can't read on the back of the tube because it is clear. The website was pretty worthless. I only wanted to see temp you can apply in and cure times. Nothing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tube version rec,d , no caulk gun needed. Used the " here goes nothing approach" to appliy. Worked well as a sealant on sink. Kinda sad though to have to use this prod basically blindfolded, due to the pkg/ instructions.
Date published: 2016-12-07
Rated 1 out of 5 by from No instructions on-line; DAP should add a link No instructions on-line where you say they are, which makes product useless
