Answer:
The DAP Household and Aquarium Silicone is only rated for incidental food contact. For your purposes, you will need a NSF approved silicone sealant, unfortunately DAP does not offer a sealant with that rating.

Answer:
It is aquarium safe, so it should be, however in the product description someplace, it had that it was acceptable for, what was the phrase? It was something like temporary food placement. It was an odd statement because I thought that since it is aquarium safe it would be food safe. But, look at the product description somewhere for something about this to clarify what I'm telling you.

Answer:
No, not on the carafe itself. The sealant is NOT food-grade. I do think it could be used on surfaces not in contact with coffee, such as putting a bead around the lip to reattach the top/lid/handle back onto the carafe. It can take up to 400 degrees F, which is surprising for an aquarium adhesive, but that's what it is.

Hello Jim,
This epoxy should work just fine. I would recommend roughing up the surfaces to help promote adhesion. I hope this helps.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 9 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product!! I used this on two tanks.. Drilled the glass to install bulkheads for an internal overflow I built for inside the tanks out of black acrylic and sealed it in place with this.. Worked perfectly for my project.. April 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect for sealing ceramic! After doing a lot of research, I used this to fix a cracked scented wax burner, which was leaking the wax into the base. The sealant is designed to take the heat (up to 400 degrees). Though it's "clear", it is visible, but done carefully, the value of the repair far outweighs the slight visibility. This sealant is clearly NOT food-grade. Was used on non-food-grade ceramics. Wife is happy. Awesome! June 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy repairs Used this product to modify two separate aquariums. Never leaked and never peeled, did exactly what it said it would do January 14, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by works well, great price Finally I found some aquarium grade silicone glue at a decent price. Works great. I did not want to chance my fish to regular silicone glue. April 13, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Going to use this to seal a microwave rice cooker I just wanted to note that Dap says this silicone sealant is food-contact safe. I have a microwave rice cooker that leaks at the top when I try to cook more than a cup of rice. There's a slot on the lid that looks like it should hold a silicone band to seal it, so I'm going to try filling in that space with this Dap product and see what happens. June 5, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Leaks Followed directions to the letter and gave it plenty of time to cure, but the aquarium leaked all over. Had better luck with silicone ear plugs from the drugstore. Softened in my hands and spread thinly along the seam that needed sealing. No leaks! May 14, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by silicone This product sealed great and was easy to use. The only problem I had is the tube was difficult to squeze and seemed to work better if i rolled the bottom of the tube up. October 13, 2010
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Larger Tube Great stuff, but would be easier to seal a larger tank if the tube was bigger and fit into a caulking gun. December 28, 2010
