Product Overview

DAP 3 Window, Door, Trim and Siding High Performance Sealant is ideal for sealing windows, door frames, corner joints, siding, trim, butt joints, baseboards, molding, pipes, ducts and vents. It is paintable in just 30 minutes which helps complete the job faster and saves time. In addition, DAP 3 is 100% waterproof and is water resistant in 30 minutes which reduces the risk of ruining the project by getting the sealant wet too early from incidental rain or water contact. For exterior projects, you can seal up gaps and cracks just 30 minutes before rain is forecasted. Also, DAP 3 offers extreme temperature use so it can be applied in temperatures ranging from 20-°F to 120-°F. DAP 3 is shrink and crack proof; plus, it adheres to just about any surface like wood, metal, brick, glass, vinyl, aluminum, concrete, masonry, plaster, drywall, stucco, stone. DAP 3 also works on surfaces that silicone just can't adhere to like painted surfaces and oily woods.

Answer:
DAP 3.0 is not recommended for aquarium applications, the recommended product is DAP Aquarium Silicone: http://www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-2-8-oz-Silicone-Aquarium-Sealant-00688/100128841#.UdseDb7D_yE

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 12 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by A REAL HASSLE TO USE The sealant material itself is good quality definitely and that's not my complaint. The REAL problem with this stuff is that it's super hard to get it out of the canister. I cut off the whole dang threaded tip under the nozzle so the opening was basically a 1/2" in diameter. Then I screwed on the nozzle and cut an opening slightly larger than 1/4 inch. I had to wrap my gun with old rags to provide some cushioning against the pressure it took to get some of the sealant out. It was effing ridiculous. I'm 6' and 230 and I have a rugged grip but this stuff was such a pain in the butt to get it to come out. It made the job difficult and I ended up having to cut the opening larger at the base several times which got more junk on my hands, clothes, and other tools. I don't recommend this to anyone. Just use the other DAP window sealant - that stuff goes on and comes out nice and easy. This is good high quality material but it's like squeezing sand out instead of sealant. Oh well. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not paintable. I was thrilled to see what I thought was a premium, high quality, caulk that was also clear. I was very willing to pay a premium price to get a premium product. The application went well. It flowed well, and made a great looking job. I waited until the next day (24 hours later). I painted. The label on the caulking said to use high quality acrylic latex paint. I used Home Depot's own "high quality, 100% acrylic, latex paint". It doesn't stick to the caulking. It makes lines of no coverage, sort of like beading up. After the paint dried, the slightest rubbing takes it off. I called the number on the tube, and DAP said it shouldn't do that. Try wiping first with rubbing alcohol. I took an area that wasn't yet painted, and wiped with rubbing alcohol. Same problem. Now I need to spend hours trying to remove all of this high-priced caulk, replace with some other paintable caulk, and any of this that remains with something that'll make paint stick. I don't know what that might be. October 26, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, but why change the packaging? This is very good caulk I would say. I put it on some outside windows but didn't need to paint it so I can't comment on that. It stays in place and its' not too messy to work with. The tip design is not necessary as the old style has worked well for many years. With this one you need to unscrew the cap and slice off the plastic nub, but only just above the threads as you need to screw the cap back on. Then slice the tip to the size you need as usual. It works well enough I guess, it just seems they were trying to do something different when everyone is used to the old style where the seal is punched out through the tip. I would buy this again though. September 29, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tough to use Don't know how well this stuff holds up, but I found it very difficult to apply. Other caulks I've used flow pretty easily, but this stuff was tough to get out of the tube. Maybe it was just the particular tube I got. August 4, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Paintable Applied well but tried to paint the next day and it wouldn't take the paint, kept separating, contacted DAP but they didn't seem too concerned. Should be paintable after 30 min. according to the label. June 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product! You definitely get what you pay for here. The tube applied crystal clear as advertised and worked flawlessly in 24 degree temperature. 1/2 a tube went twice as as far as I thought it would which was very surprising seeing I was being generous during my application. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by terrible application Product is hard to get out of the tube. cant even make a nice bead with it. and the unscrew nozzle to cup an opening is a bad design. my forearm was killing me to do one window. get the silicon from the same company its much much better. January 24, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by False description, this doesn't set in 30 min This doesn't set in 30 min. I have applied this at several places in my home exterior and interior and tested after 2 hours and it is still sticky. As product description says can not be paintable in 30 min September 19, 2014
