Around 1984 Advanced acrylic latex technology was being establish.
"DAP traces its roots back to 1865, when Robert H. Dicks and Elmer Wiggim began producing sealing wax for food-canning out of Dicks' garage in Dayton, Ohio. In those days before refrigeration and commercially prepared foods, canning was a widespread practice, and demand for their product was high."

Answer:
No. For places near water (bath/tub/sink) you need to use a quality Silicone caulking. They generally are marked for tub/shower on the packaging. Note that unlike the Alex Plus a Silicone caulk will not clean up with water. To remove the caulking from your fingers and finish cleaning use a solvent. Good luck.

Answer:
Good question, sometimes leaving it bare blends in better, but painting over the caulk would won't hurt, I would test in a small area just too see how it looks.

February 9, 2016
Answer:
For planning purposes, 24 hours should be considered a minimum dry time before the product is exposed to moisture. Factors such as lower temperatures, higher humidity and bead size can add to this minimum dry time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Cheap Caulk its not the best, dap make a lot better but if you want a good caulk cheap this is the dog October 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by No task to big or small this was my first time using this, so let picture tell the story February 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Too thin. I'm only 1/4 through my first tube and I'm getting something else. It's far too thin and continues to run from the tube even after the pressure from the gun is released. Other reviews mention cracking, long cure time and a second coat. Based on how thin it is, I'm sure that's true. I don't have time to do things twice. Anybody want my second tube? July 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Alex Plus is my first choice Alex Plus has been my first choice all-purpose caulk for decades, first in New Jersey where rain and humidity where the primary exterior challenges, and now in north-central Nebraska where temperature extremes and intense sun are the challenges. I consistently get excellent results. My first and most often repeated lesson as an apprentice was, "Understand your medium." Wood moves. Some species more than others. Some environmental conditions cause more movement than others. That's the basic understanding the wood medium part. Caulks dry differently, adhere differently, and harden or remain flexible differently. As long as one understands and selects the right medium for the job, and matches media that are complementary, there will be success. But when one attempts to bind up a board and batten wall with caulk, for instance, product failure and dissatisfaction are bound to follow. The board and batten system was designed to accommodate the movement of the wide boards, so let them move, or find a caulk that cures with the elasticity of a glob of chewing gum on hot pavement. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NO Instructions The tube contains absolutely no instructions or info other than safety info. It would have been nice to know curing/painting time before I purchased this stuff. Now, after applying it to my RV, I find out that I can't paint it for 7-14 days! August 13, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by what happen to brillant white The white color dries light gray not white. The brilliant white dries white. Do away with white and only make brilliant white. If looking to save cash. July 16, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This stuff is garbage We used this caulk on our woodwork before painting everything white. The coverage seemed good at first, but a year later, it's cracked in many places and we need to re-caulk. Wish we would have used a better quality product! May 28, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Would not recommend Used this product on the exterior of a shower door threshold, between metal and tile. I had noted the 7-14 day dry time, but assumed this was a worst case; i.e. high humidity, cool temps, large bead, etc. Needed only a very thin bead, and in 12 hours it was "clear". Even so, I waited a full 24 hours to test, at which point it matched the shower's original clear sections. Failed immediately, but the good news is that it really does clean up easily with water, so all I'm out is a couple of hours of my time and the cost of a tube. August 3, 2016
