Product Overview

Daptex Plus is designed to meet the tough standards demanded for professional window and door installations while effectively filling and sealing large cracks, gaps and voids. Unlike polyurethane foams, it will not over expand, is toolable, moldable and cleans up easily with water. It remains soft and flexible when dry so it will not bow, buckle or distort frames. The innovative latex polymer foam technology provides water resistance and is paintable with latex paints once cured. Daptex Plus helps reduce energy loss as well as pest infiltration and is ideal for sealing air leaks to improve energy efficiency and reduce heating and cooling costs.

Customer Questions & Answers

where is the straw?

where is the straw?
Asked by: Kate
The applicator straw should be affixed to the side of the can. If you do not have a straw on your can, it may not be able to fully reach the intended application area, however, it can still be used "as is". Should you need a replacement straw, please contact DAP Technical Customer Service at 888-327-8477.

Daptex Plus 12 oz. White Latex Foam Sealant (12-Pack) is rated 2.4 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Disapointed I found that the can I used would not hold the straw ,just touching the window opening I was trying to fill would loosen the straw and as I though I was filling the opening only to find when cutting the excess off the opening was coated on both sides and open in the middle. So I wasted my time and money with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is great! This is a great gap filler for Windows, Doors and Walls. It's far better than Great Stuff and others because it stays more flexible than the competitors, which are rigid and hard to handle. It is very controllable as well which is very beneficial in cavity fills where the insulation must tightly fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from BEST minimal expanding foam I have used! The first time I used this product was to seal a kit metal building from the inside for water and dust leaks. It rained before all the product cured and some of it washed out. The areas where it had cured, were dry, so after area dried up, I reused it right over the same places. When it cured, no water came in. An additional plus was the outside of the building where it oozed out was washed clean!! The next time I used this product, I was sealing a new window installation in an older house where I needed flexible filler to back up a paintable caulk. I used too much and found that after it cured, a light hand with a wire brush, cleaned up where caulk was needed. Now whenever I need a filler in an area that needs a flexible air, dust or moisture barrier and is easy to clean up, I use DAPtex Plus before caulking. This week's job was an older door installation with metal trim next to red brick that was gaping. After filling the gap, letting it cure for about 24 hours I used a wire brush lightly on the metal trim and the red brick to clean them up, and to increase the surface to filler gap so the caulk would lock itself in place. Now all I need to do is match paint the caulk to the metal trim. Clean up was a snap, no harsh mechanical or chemical cleaners were needed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This the most disappointing sealer I have ever used I used to along my foundation but it never cured. Moisture, temperature who know exactly but even inside the results were similar. Spongy on the outside and wet inside.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than expanding foams Great find! Saw this product several times in stores and figured it was just another expanding foam. These foams do a good job when used properly and in the right application, but they are pain to use. The other day I was searching the web for an interior window sealant for a gap between a hurricane window and concrete wall. (No, nothing structural. Installation contractor did a good job of installation except for the interior of a bathroom window over the bathtub. He used a lot of caulk to cover his sins; the caulk was beginning to mold and mildew despite routine cleaning.) Backer rod wasn't right, there wasn't enough working space for grout or mortar, and the gap was too deep for caulk. My search lead me to a website where a contractor was using the DAP foam. The contractor in the YouTube video was successfully showing my application. Next day I purchased a can and today used it. SUCCESS, except now I am waiting for it to cure so I can add a small bead a caulk over it. Guess I'll do some other things like cleanup.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what I expected it to do We keep about 3,000 to 6,000 cans of this on hand and use it on 30 to 50 jobs a day. Primarily we use this product to seal between wood framing and wood door jambs at install. It does a good job gaps up to 1" and does not expand a great deal. Clean up is much easier than with expanded poly products.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor performance I tried this as a more convenient alternative to the other foams. It started out well - easy application, easy cleanup. But it never cured to any really solid form. There were gaps in the initial foam application that opened after "curing" and then couldn't be filled with additional foam. Even after 3 days it's still soft and crumbly and it feels porous. I finally removed it from the gap I was trying to seal (using my fingers) and went back to the old foam. Job done the first attempt. Note that the job was an indoors leak sealing attempt in a century home. Average temperature was 18C. No moisture. I really can't think of where this product would be useful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from terrible results Purchased this product at more than twice the price of similar products. Used to seal up small wire and plumbing openings in my camper. After 5 days it never set up or cured. Has no strength and would be impossible to paint. Don't understand how DAP (usually good products) could market such a poor product. Now I have to try and clean it all out and do over with something else.
