Questions & Answers

I have a hole on a door can I use this product?

Asked by: Texas
No this is for drywall, plaster. You need to ask someone what the composition of the door is? Wood? then you will know what to use on it.

Would it patch some chipped paint of wall?

I'm not using it for wholes, I used sticky double sided mounting tape, and when I tried to pull it off, it came off with the paint? Will I stick this on, put on the shakle than paint it?
Asked by: 1234567
If there's not an actual hole in the wall, I would probably just use a light-weight spackling compound, then 100-grit sandpaper to smooth out the wall before repainting.

At least not the one that i picked up in the store last night. The mesh is very thick and is not self adhering. It is a thick paper material and uses the drydex to adhere. you have to put a thin layer on the patch and then stick it to the wall. The extra product needed for adhesion causes it to be much thicker that it needs to be. I sanded as best as possible but it required 4 thin layers to cover the mesh after the initial set and I could not feather it out enough to make it look acceptable. Total time with dry time to fix a 2" x 2" hole was about 7 hours no including paint. I am Very disappointed with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product If Properly Applied I rarely write reviews; however, when I saw that the only review bad-mouthed the product I thought it only fair to provide some balance. Yes, it's true the patch "as-is" is thick. However, if after applying it to the wall you properly sand it down to be flush with the wall, the resulting repair looks great. Not being much of a DIY guy, I put the patch on, sanded it lightly and then painted the area. It looked bad and my first thought was, "I should have listened to the reviewer who said the patch was too thick". Then my wife took a look and said "You really need to sand that down more." (Like I said, I'm not the guy you would hire to do your household repairs.) Trying to keep on the good side with my wife, I got out the sandpaper and sanded down the patch until it was virtually flush with the wall. Gave it a couple coats of paint and it looked great! Attached is a picture of the repaired wall. You be the judge. [To give you a clue the patched hole was from our prior thermometer just above our new thermometer.] I hope this is helpful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful product This was a terrible product. Used it to patch some nail spots and small holes before painting. Did decent job getting flush and clean after. Sat 12+ hours to dry. Sanded day after. While painting it started coming off and spreading around as if it were still wet. Learned from first wall I had to be gentle around patched areas but the first one has several spots and uneven patches where it moved around while painting. Read instructions so not sure how it could have been applied any different.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from New Patch Material is Worthless I have used these Dap repair kits for years. Bought one today and they switched from the metal mesh patch to some composite material that is horrible. Tried twice to get the repair to hold and it was lose to the touch. Never again will a use Dap. Buy the metal mesh repair patch as they work.

I had never taken on a project like this before and was truly clueless. It was so easy that I happily repaired several walls in a house for my mom. Highly recommend.
