Is DAP Kwik Seal Plus OK for outdoor use?

We have a pipe sticking out of our roof. Around it, there is space, which causes water to run down the pipe into our garage. Is it OK to seal the pipe with Kwik Seal Plus? We live in Pennsylvania, where we experience temperatures from about 0 deg F to 95 deg F.

Avoid All caulk products made by DAP. They are not water-resistant and will dissolve in no time. Basically wortless! Get GE caulk instead.

Cannot read directions on caulk tube. Type too small. How to use to set sink drain?

Asked by: Salty
When caulking, always remove all old remnants and make sure everything underneath and around the area is completely dry. Any little moisture will destroy the caulk resulting in costly time-consuming tear-downs and rework. Instructions: cut the tip in an angle, slowly and evenly spread as you run along the edges. Finally use your finger (index or middle) and smooth out the edges. Wipe clean (running along) the edges with a damp towel and try not to push the middle part where the caulk is sealing. If you have a fan, blow it dry overnight. Instruction for this caulk calls for: ready to paint after 2 hours, and wait after 36 hours before exposing to water. Before doing the work, I'd seriously look into replacing this brand of caulk if I were you. DAP isn't a very good brand at all when it comes to caulking. They make decent dry-wall (dry-dex) spackling though. I recommend GE caulk.

Asked by: sonspot
DAP KWIK Seal Plus can be used for minor repair projects such as resecuring a loose tile, soap tray or trim piece providing that at least one of the two materials to be bonded are porous and that the application conditions are in accordance with the package label recommendations.

Used this product 2 years ago. It is now molding. What is the best way to remove it from metal rails of the shower door? Tried De-Solv-it.
Asked by: Sam
For removal of any DAP acrylic latex based sealant, we would recommend the use of DAP CAULK-BE-GONE Caulk Remover.

I don't know why everyone else complains about this caulk but I think they put it on wet or moist surfaces or they are putting it on too thick because I have been using this caulk for years and I don't usually get problems with it not drying/curing. If any water gets to any part of it that isn't 100% dry within a week or so and the moisture sits on it then it will definitely wind up running. Keep in mind this is not a higher quality siliconized or grouted caulk. Those caulks are meant to be 100% waterproof in a day or two and cost more. The only problems I often used to have were that the caulk was too thin like it was overly watered down and it would wind up shrinking big time. This would make small holes and gaps that I would have to fill in a second time and sometimes even a third time. However, DAP has definitely changed the formula that they have made this out of recently because it smells different and the shrinking problem has largely gone away. I used to give this a 2 or 3 star rating but it now gets 4 stars with the newer user friendly formula.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All the bad reviews seem to be the user I have used this stuff for years. It stays bright white. Doesnt attract dirt like regular caulkings and also seals gaps and seams. Use the product correctly and you won't have issues. This is a water based sealant offering application flexibility and water clean up. Keep that in mind. Use a silicone where more water exposure is anticipated. Read the labels or hire a professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product This product holds up well, I like that it is silliconized, the drawback is that it is very sticky. My crew complained about it being sticky but in the end it gets the job done and avoids call backs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Please stop selling this product No residue, clean, and dry. Waited 24 hours, per instructions, and in less than 12 hours it was pulling out from under the sink. Holes. Still soft. We will have to completely reinstall the kitchen sink. Thanks Dap. DIY-ing is hard enough without worthless products taking up prime shelf space.

This is a paste similar to those used for windows contour. It takes over a week to dry and contrary to the packaging, it is not white. It is grey. If you use this as caulking you will regret it. So to recap: ITS NOT WHITE, ITS NOT QUICK AND ITS NOT FOR TUBS.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Decent product, Bad packaging The product itself was good, I could have given a 4-5 star. The packaging design was a major failure, giving zero if that was an option. The end of the tube that was to deliver the beautiful even bead was designed to be removed twisting off, but wouldnt stay on the container under pressure and split in the first minute. Had to puncture the inner seal, had to use a pair of pliers to rip it off. If DAP would put a tip that was sealed to the container, and an easy puncture inner seal, I could have been able to use it. Instead I had to use rubber gloves, squeeze out the product, then in a messy swipe with my finger apply to the area. And of course it is not water clean up. Also meaning the product went half as far as should be. Thank goodness this project wasnt in a place that mattered on how it looked, what a mess. Of course I could have used mineral spirits and a lot of time to make it pretty, but was expecting a much easier project and didnt have it on hand. Wont buy this again until they redesign the tube.

I wasted my time twice trying to seal a shower drain, and both times this caulk turned to mush after one shower. Do not waster your time or money with this garbage. This manufacturer is a bunch of crooks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product works great! Used it to adhere a plastic soap dish and shelf onto a PORCELAIN TILE shower wall. It worked GREAT, but my other half wants to change the location of the soap dish. What solvent will loosen the adhesive sealant so I can remove it
